  • Fantastic kayak at a good value
Color: FUNKADELIC
This is my second Perception Pescador kayak. I love them both! They are comfortable, track well, are made well, and I love the locking dry hatch! We have used them on rivers, lakes and creeks. This is a great all round kayak.

  • Great Kayak
Color: FUNKADELIC
We took our kayaks out for the first time today... We loved them!!! Easy to carry, they don't get full of water, and they glide very easily... My husband and I are in our late 50's and had never kayaked before... we had no issues! These are really nice kayaks..and the colors are so vibrant and beautiful ( We ordered cotton candy) I got a 10Ft. and my husband bought a 12ft. We haul them in the back of our truck. They are well balanced and easy to get in and out of and the seat is comfy. I love the cup holder and the storage. Just a super nice all around kayak. ... show more

  • EVERYTHING, you need to know..... just buy it!
Color: FUNKADELIC
I absolutely love the entire kayak. The only reason it has 4 stars, is for not being able to grip it from the side for easy handling. It was difficult for loading and un loading purposes. You don’t have a good grip as for the side goes. As for speed, I’m a strong arm paddlers already. So Speed was just fine for a sit up top. I love how much room you have to carry on a lot for over night trips. Which I just recently went on a 9 hour kayak trip and down some class 1-2 white water just fine. I have now been paddling for around 5 mths. Absolutely awesome! My 5 yr old sits perfect in the back and plenty of space! A bonus!! It’s summer here now, and I prefer from my sit in at the moment. Because it’s hot out and sit on top is what you want for fun rapidity white water and to be able to swim off of and back in. Self rescue, no sinking. And you can still turn easily. I found it easy to scoot all the way towards the front of the kayak to get into the front department. Which has easy latches to quickly pop open and close vs. the rubber ones that you have to seal back on around. Another win, is I like having my legs in the water. So being able to sit on the side edge of the kayak and cool off a bit, rocking the kayak back and forth while floating down the the river. Along with some friends drinking a Mikes Hard Lemonade during the peek summer months. Was a must... I’m on the smaller side weighing at 140 pds and 5’6”. I am able to move around just fine without feeling like I’m going to tip. I did buy 6 plugs to seal up the drain holes for a dryer ride being still colder. I also have water proof pants, boots and jackets for raining days being in Oregon. So if I want to be on the Sit up top, I can with out weather effecting me. The 12 footer is perfect! It’s not too long or too short. I can throw this in back of my suburban no problem. I had just a foot and 1/2 sticking out from back of my suv. Nothing a few straps can’t handle to hold the back doors together. Vs. having to haul it on my trailer when I take more friends kayaking with me. The color is awesome!! The biggest plus is the handles from the front and back is solid with the unit. So makes it easier to lock up around a trees or what ever to prevent kayak from being stolen over night while camping. Or shuttling back to my car. I ended just purchasing the twin of this brand and color on Amazon. So now I have the new 2019 Preception Joyride 12’footer (Sit in) yak. The sit on top Pascador kayak here, I will use all the time during the warm months. Because there are rivers I go down that has rapids and notorious for flipping yaks over. And having a solid one piece sit on top will keep you from your boat being sunk and easy self rescue for sit on top. Vs. the sit in. The sit in is great for cooler days, also from dirty water that you may not want to throw your legs into. Also great for flat water paddling vs. fast moving water where self rescue isn’t really possible with a sit in. I do know the sit in will do me just fine for many other types of water. If you are having a hard time deciding which kayak to get, sit in or sit on top? Depends how experience you are, what kind of water are you going into. What are you going to be doing in the water. Is it for just fun recreational? Then you just need a 10 footer. And as long as your just in flat slow moving water. Any brand will work. Any sit on or sit in will be fine. If you plan on river runs and more longer day trips. Would recommend this kayak brand. And no less then a 12 footer. It does weigh around 55 pds to make sure you are able to lift over 50 pds. As to smaller recreational kayaks can weigh less. If you are new and plan to do rivers and fast moving waters. I would recommend kayaking during warm months Incase you capsize. As you need to wear expensive cold gear during any other time of year due to very cold water. And I would recommend a sit on top. Because if you swim/ capsize. You will be able to swim with your kayaks without sinking it. For example: I had 3 friends with in the same month last summer, out of No where capsize! They were newbies. The 1st time was up the river from me and I couldn’t get to her due to the strong river current. My friend said, she almost gave up because the (SIT IN) kayak was to heavey for her to flip the water out and drag out of the moving river. Which could have gotten her stuck in the location she was at. If she didn’t get herself out of situation. I would have had to call 911 for help if I even had phone service. So a marine radio could come in handy. Two weeks later one of my guy friends capsized in a current on the river. Lucky for me, he was able to swim with the kayak and we were close to shore. As we would of had my kayaks sunk if we were further away from shore. There was two guys there to flip the kayak over with all the water in it. Shortly after that another newbie friend capsized sitting on my “sit on top” 9 foot emotion kayak for apparently no reason... lol but she was able to easily flip back over and self rescue. So keep that in mind... what kind of water are you wanting to be in and experience do you have? Anything could happen at any given time. Always dress appropriate for a swim and waters where I’m from are not safe to swim in until June. It’s stll freezing cold water even if it’s hot outside. And can die in the water without proper gear if you paddle during cold season. The sit on top and being 12 footer has good stability and the longer the faster.... if you start getting into the 14 plus footer. The stability is less. I would recommend this kayak for beginners. Sit in kayaks are always good to have as a second option and definitely would recommend the sister kayak To this the JoyRide 12 footer sit in. As it will have even better stability then a sit on top. But both are great for beginners as well. I will be writing a review for the Sit in Joyride when I receive it and use it by May time. ... show more

  • I loved it so much that I bought it again.
Color: Mystic
This is my second Pescador 12. I bought my first one 12 or 13 years ago and it just suffered a catastrophic keel failure. Rather than repair it, I chose to buy another one because I kayak in remote areas and in the ocean. I like the new molded handles, the front hatch cover is an improvement, and the reinforced keel is a great idea. I also have 2 Wilderness Systems Tarpon kayaks, that are much more expensive, but this Pescador is a much better balanced kayak. I'm not a fan of the placement of the paddle keeper. I don't care for it being on the left side of the boat, and it's a little inconvenient being behind the seat, but I can always add one on the other side that's next to the seat instead of behind it. Overall, this is a great boat, and will easily handle lakes, rivers, and even the ocean. I'm happy that Perception is still making these. ... show more

  • Fun Get Outside
My Husband picked them out. They fit in the back of our full size pick up, with some hanging out the back. We have been taking them out on a small lake nearby. They seem very stable. They glide through the water effortlessly. I like the foot rests to push on while I paddle. Excellent dry storage area. We store our fishing poles in there while transporting to the lake. The rails on the sides are great for paddle holders and such. They have been fun sorry to see the warm weather leave but will be fun next year too and many others. ... show more
