  • Fabulous Kayak ‼️
Style: Original version Pattern Name: Kayak
UPDATE: After using this kayak 7 times at 2-4 hours per outing, I can say I love this Kayak! I’m more use to it now and found out I can edge on it very comfortably. If you never kayaked before you might not be able to appreciate how maneuverable this is. You will just think it’s tippy or unstable. It’s NOT. It’s fast and maneuverable‼️😎 The only negative for me is it’s not as easy to get in or out of compared to a sit on top kayak but that’s because I’m old and fat. I highly recommend this kayak for intermediate kayakers. Beginners — I still recommend unless they are non active type of people. This kayak is Lightweight, Easy to Paddle and Transport, Tracks Well, and it’s Fast. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. The bottom has a modified V shape hull so it’s a little more tippy than a heavy, flat-bottomed SitOnTop kayak. But, I got used to it in a few minutes and was loving paddling this sit inside kayak. It’s very responsive. Now, getting in and out: Easy Peasy‼️ I practiced a few times in my garage. Best advice I can give is: sit down first on the cockpit frame right behind the backrest (I sat on the backrest 😂), swing one leg in, then the other leg in as you lower your butt into the seat. Just keep your center of gravity low and hold onto the cockpit sides. Best to get in and out in water that’s only a few inches deep while you’re getting used to it. . Getting out: hold on to the sides and raise your butt up onto the cockpit frame and backrest. One leg out then all together push up with your hands and stand up and lift your other leg out. That’s it. And by the way, I’m 65 yrs old with 2 artificial hips and 30 lbs overweight. The foot stops inside the Kayak are great also. 4 different positions for various leg lengths. I’m loving this kayak and it’s a game changer from my sit on top kayak. I highly recommend this Pelican Maxim 100. Worth every dollar 👍😎 ... show more

  • I like it
Style: New version Pattern Name: Kayak
Haven't found anything I don't like. It does what a kayak should. Perfect for me and my dog. Sturdy build, bright color, easy to load/unload alone. Great on the water. Recommend!

  • It is tippy very tippy.
Style: Original version Pattern Name: Kayak
I read the other reviews before purchasing that said this thing was very tippy, and they are not wrong. I am a beginner kayaker. I am also obese 240 lbs 50 year old woman with no core strength. I bought it for exercise. when I first got in I just about tipped over. Getting in and out is the hardest part, it does take a little practice. If you move your pelvis slightly the entire kayak moves. Your stability depends on your core muscles. You have to stay upright and will definitely tip if you lean to the side. It’s incredibly responsive to your body movement. I think this will be a good quality as I gain more skill. It tracks really well and it handles really well. I was able to move through the water quickly. I’m definitely sore after my first trip but that’s a good thing. If you’re a beginner you can do this, but just understand what you’re getting into. I kayak on a calm lake And I don’t go more than swimming distance to the shore line in case I do tip over. Get a leash for your paddle and one of those water tight floating bags for your cell phone. Do not go out in deep water or very turbulent water if you are a newbie with this kayak. I also never go out in more than 5 mile an hour wind speed. Wear swimming clothes and shoes you can get wet. I had no problems, lifting the kayak out of my cargo van and dragging it through the woods A short distance. it’s lightweight enough, even for me. I am really impressed with the kayak so far. ... show more

  • Light enough for a woman to carry
Style: Original version Pattern Name: Kayak
Bought this so I could handle it alone at 65 years of age. I can carry it, tip it up and get it on top of the roof rack of my Outback. Because it is so light, it will not stand up to a lot of banging on rocks. That said, I prefer rivers to lakes. Just make sure there’s enough water in them! And you will not be doing whitewater kayaking in this either. It’s for a novice, or light recreational user. Plenty of room, tracks pretty well, good in light rapids. Can feel a little tippy but took my 12 pound dog on the back (in the shallow well) and he did fine. Would fit a bigger dog. The front well with the lid is very small and it’s hard to take the lid off when you’re in the water. Good place to put a lunch, etc for when you stop for a break. Good starter kayak. Fits my needs. One thing I don’t like is the styrofoam ballast in the sides is exposed and will flake off easily. Not very good for the environment. Trying to figure out what to do about that. Encase it?? There has to be a better material to use. ... show more

  • Great lightweight kayak
Style: New version Pattern Name: Kayak
Exactly what I was looking for: lightweight, easy to handle, durable, decent tracking. Only complaint is that hatch storage is not much at all. Almost not worth having it the storage. Comfortable seat. Really like the built foot adjustments.

  • Do not buy!
Style: Original version Pattern Name: Kayak
I am fairly new to kayaking and I bought this kayak based on reviews and the manufacturer product overview. Simply put, I do not recommend this kayak to anyone, experienced kayakers may disagree , but I do not recommend specifically, beginner to moderate kayakers. I took this kayak on a long river ride and also in a lake for a spectrum of water conditions. The stability is the biggest problem, I felt like I was walking a tight rope the whole time. The slightest moves make the kayak negatively react. I tipped it over during my first use and several other times during my first outing, I nearly tipped it and water came regularly came into the cockpit. I had to stop and empty it several times. I tested it in placid water and still had the same issue. When I tipped the kayak over, it filled and sank fairly quickly, regardless of the styrofoam blocks flanking the hull. Storage is also limited which is really challenging for longer excursions. It is very light and more narrow compared to other kayaks, which may be a plus to some, but I think that is the main issue with it. Thinking my inexperience played a factor, I bought another kayak the following week (at the same price point) and I went to the same river and lake to test and compare. I had the complete opposite experience; fantastic stability, ample storage, the storage compartment is sealed which keeps your gear dry and adds buoyancy. Overall, I would avoid purchasing this kayak. ... show more
