  • Great lightweight kayak
Style: New version Pattern Name: Kayak
Exactly what I was looking for: lightweight, easy to handle, durable, decent tracking. Only complaint is that hatch storage is not much at all. Almost not worth having it the storage. Comfortable seat. Really like the built foot adjustments.

  • Fabulous Kayak ‼️
Style: Original version Pattern Name: Kayak
UPDATE: After using this kayak 7 times at 2-4 hours per outing, I can say I love this Kayak! I’m more use to it now and found out I can edge on it very comfortably. If you never kayaked before you might not be able to appreciate how maneuverable this is. You will just think it’s tippy or unstable. It’s NOT. It’s fast and maneuverable‼️😎 The only negative for me is it’s not as easy to get in or out of compared to a sit on top kayak but that’s because I’m old and fat. I highly recommend this kayak for intermediate kayakers. Beginners — I still recommend unless they are non active type of people. This kayak is Lightweight, Easy to Paddle and Transport, Tracks Well, and it’s Fast. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. The bottom has a modified V shape hull so it’s a little more tippy than a heavy, flat-bottomed SitOnTop kayak. But, I got used to it in a few minutes and was loving paddling this sit inside kayak. It’s very responsive. Now, getting in and out: Easy Peasy‼️ I practiced a few times in my garage. Best advice I can give is: sit down first on the cockpit frame right behind the backrest (I sat on the backrest 😂), swing one leg in, then the other leg in as you lower your butt into the seat. Just keep your center of gravity low and hold onto the cockpit sides. Best to get in and out in water that’s only a few inches deep while you’re getting used to it. . Getting out: hold on to the sides and raise your butt up onto the cockpit frame and backrest. One leg out then all together push up with your hands and stand up and lift your other leg out. That’s it. And by the way, I’m 65 yrs old with 2 artificial hips and 30 lbs overweight. The foot stops inside the Kayak are great also. 4 different positions for various leg lengths. I’m loving this kayak and it’s a game changer from my sit on top kayak. I highly recommend this Pelican Maxim 100. Worth every dollar 👍😎 ... show more

  • Happy with my purchase
Style: Original version Pattern Name: Kayak
After searching everywhere for a kayak (the stores have none in stock), I found this one on Amazon. I was skeptical after reading the mixed reviews. First of all the price was slightly higher than regular retail price, but not terrible. The delivery day and time was scheduled. I received it on the day scheduled. The time was between 3 and 6 pm. I got a call at 3:12 saying he was close. He arrived at 3:25. The kayak was wrapped in bubble wrap and plastic with extra to reinforce each end. The delivery man was very polite and helpful. I was very pleased with the delivery! Of course I inspected it and found 2 small gouges but nothing significant. This was the first time I had ever been in a kayak, so I don’t have expertise but at first I felt it was a little tippy. I found that getting in and out of it was the most difficult part. As long as I was centered in the middle, I felt stable. I took the kayak out in a lake so the water was pretty calm. I think there are more stable kayaks out there, but this one isn’t terrible. It’s fairly lightweight so I can load it and carry it myself (I am a 66 year old female). ... show more

  • lightweight and stable but with a few problems.
Style: New version Pattern Name: Kayak
This was my first kayak. It is great for fishing still water as it is very maneuverable and quite stable. I'm 5'11 and I find I'm at the absolute limit for the preset foot rests. Anybody with longer legs is liable to find their feet beyond the last notch in the foot rest bars. I also have to take issue with the seat. I'm not sure exactly how back support works in comfortable seats/chairs, but this one doesn't work worth a darn for me. After an hour or more of paddling, I find myself squirming and moving about, trying to relieve a minor back ache. I don't know if it's lack of support high or low or the shape of the back support, but I found it quite uncomfortable. Perhaps someone a bit shorter will do just fine with it. I found it a great little (10ft) boat for close in maneuvering and quietly approaching pocket waters and small bays and cuts, but all that maneuverability comes at a price for weak tracking on long, straight hauls. Pushing against a current in moving water is tiring before long. While this all sounds critical of the boat, It really does some things very well. It simply is not the perfect kayak for all people. It is extremely easy to get in and out of because of the hull design. It's very easy to turn, almost in place. Despite reviews that criticize it's stability, I found it to be very stable and comfortable for moving about and fishing. I suspect that a small person or child would find it a lot easier to handle than the larger, longer kayaks. Despite it's light weight, it is sturdy and well put together. ... show more

  • It’s great, but CEVA logistics shipping manhandled it, screwed up numbers
Style: New version Pattern Name: Kayak
Haven’t taken it out yet - but it looks and feels like it’s going to be a smooth, steady ride. Nice design, comfortable seat and foot pedals reach up hide enough for a short person. Nice wide cockpit. I kayak in waters that go from glassy to choppy and because this has a “rudder” steering will be much easier if caught in waves. Very happy with it. Can’t wait to try it! The only reason that it is T in the water now is because it came with water in it, due to the packaging being torn which also allowed for dark scuffing marks on the top sides and the bottom. Very unhappy with that. The young delivery guy had nothing for me to sign, was going to drop and run without inspection. Found a shipping invoice inside from a door company , and no invoice for me. CEVA also had 2 shipments with the same number so that was fun. ... show more
