If you remove the so padding from the boot you can clearly see and feel the nails tht connects the boot to the plate in both skates. The first insert you can actually see the imprint of the nails tht are protruding through the heel of the boot tht connects it to the plate. Then there is a second insert that they provide. It is not enough. I had to put 2 additional gel insoles in each boot. I am going skating tomorrow night for adult skate night and will provide and update for how comfortable or uncomfortable they are and if they will returned or not. We shall see if the reviews were/are inflated. **UPDATE** I have changed my score from 3 stars to 4 stars because with my extra padding that I inserted the skates are actually pretty good skates especially for the price. ... show more

I hadn’t been roller skating in almost 40 years, and I had been feeling very depressed. A friend of mine mentioned that there was a local rink and wanted to go. I did a lot of research before buying these. They are well made. The wheels have sealed bearings and are perfect for the rink. I was back to skating fast like when was in my teens. I added stickers to my skates in memory of my child who passed away in February. I love and miss them dearly. Till we meet again. Rest in peace Ray <3 ... show more

As a 56-year-old former skater, I decided to pick up skating again (for exercise) after decades of being off wheels. Imagine my surprise when I put on my very old skates and failed to do so much as a waltz jump! Turns out I needed to learn to skate all over again. I did a bunch of research and found that this skate had nearly everything I was looking for in a "value" skate...the right wheel size & wheel hardness, a padded tongue, an adjustable toe stop, and a metal plate. All of this at $60; I couldn't resist. I ordered them yesterday and received them today. They were packaged nicely. I always wear a women's size 7.5 in shoes; therefore, I ordered the 38 (7) and they fit perfectly. They are *slightly* wide on my feet. Almost not worth pointing out. I only did so for the women that have very narrow feet. My feet are just a bit narrow...socks will take care of this. The skates arrived with the toe stops too high, but they can easily be lowered. We have a hardwood floor in our living room, so I moved the coffee table, put the skates on, and skated for about 20 minutes. It was great! These skates are AWESOME! Totally worth $60 (or more)! Also, they look nice. For other women like me, who skated (a hundred years ago) in Riedell Silver Star or Gold Star skates, you will appreciate the beauty of these skates. Well worth the money; buy them while you can! ... show more

I am a returning figure skater and did not want the expense and hassle of custom boots. These boots seem very well made and correspond well with the measurement chart for length. The toe box is quite roomy, and they also have a heel pocket which keeps the heel in place.
