We are currently putting Hardie board planks up and these make it so easy you can do it yourself! They slide in under the second board and space it where it you want it. It is adjustable to make the spacing different sizes as to if you want a straight line on either side of a door or window. They work great! Originally bought a set at Lowe's, but returned them as I needed to get a building permit to do this work so I had to wait. Then I found them on Amazon. Less expensive and shipped out immediately. If you are a homeowner as I am and doing this work yourself, don't forget to wrap your house with the correct tape and use the Gecko's. They make putting it up so easy! ... show more

These are a lifesaver for anyone wanting to side your building solo. They clamp onto the last row installed and hold up the next row at consistent height for nailing. BUT, ... for me the shelf holding the next row would move away from the building as I clamped. I installed a special hook out of sheet metal and it worked, but for the money I shouldn't have had to. These are NOT cheap. Another plus is that you can adjust the lift height by 1/4 inch increments; after a while I got so I could adjust one in about 30 seconds. BUT, the allen bolt doesnt' fit any wrench I had; weird. Used a pliers. Still, an absolute MUST for me. Worth it in the end. FWIW, there are guys on that "tube" channel that show how to make one for a few bucks. ... show more

Like the instructions say, don't over-tighten and make sure you're getting the model for the material you are installing. I was removing old rotten masonite siding from a chimney and replacing with LP SmartSide 3/8" x 8" lap siding. These Gecko mounting blocks are awesome! Slide under the previously attached plank as shown in my pics. The question I had was "how much is a correct reveal" or overlap in the planks, however you look at it. I suspect each siding mfg., has their recommendation. LP has theirs for the 3/8" siding I used, of a minimum 1" overlap. These Gecko mounting blocks are adjustable each 1/4" so you can get the exact overlap recommended by the siding mfg.! Great product so far! Saved me a lot of time! ... show more
