I bought this tumbler for my mother because she needed a spill proof, well insulated bottle that keeps her drinks cold. I chose this brand because I have their free sip water bottle and it’s my favorite because of the quality, the 2 drinking options, and it keeps my drink cold for days! This tumbler is just as flexible by offering 2 drinking options. You can sip from the lid or drink through the straw and it keeps ice and drinks cold for a long period of time. Occasionally there’s ice still in the tumbler the following day that has kept overnight. The lid screws on and the triple layer metal insulated bottle and lid really does what it claims. I live in a hot humid environment so we use it mostly for cold drinks but it also works for warm drinks. That’s how well it functions! I purchased this tumbler after getting into making iced matcha lattes (and after my glass tumbler completely shattered and I learned my lesson to not use glass tumblers for anything that goes from hot to cold.) Me and my boyfriend have the freesips, so we're well acquainted with the Owala brand. I love that I can pour hot water into this, stir up my matcha powder with my little electric frother then dump ice and milk into it with no issues and it keeps it nice and cold with no chances of a spill. I also like that if I ever wanted to not use the straw, the lid can be converted to a sipper instead. However, what I wasn't expecting, and maybe this is listed in the description, was just how well this keeps ice. I'm guilty of letting the cup sit on my desk til the next morning when it's time to make another drink and I wash it then. So I was shocked when I got into the office the next day, picked it up to wash it and ICE WAS CLANKING inside the Owala. 24 hours later and there were still fully intact ice cubes in the cup! I think it's easy to hold compared to my glass tumbler which was a bit too wide for my hands and I always feared dropping it. And it doesn't sweat like a glass or plastic tumbler. It doesn't have a handle, which some may gripe about, but I actually think the big lunky handles make tumblers HARDER to carry around. It just doesn't feel very comfortable or ergonomic to me. I have a bottle boot on my freesip and I wish they had bottle boots for these cups as well so I can keep it nice and pristine. It is such a great tumbler and it keeps my iced coffee cold all day for at LEAST 12 hours. Only problem I had with it, which is majority my fault, is that I dropped it and the straw snapped, so I had to find a replacement straw. So if you buy this, be extra careful to not drop it because it is heavy and will likely fall right ok the straw. ALSO it is leakproof! every once in awhile some liquid will squeeze out but not enough to spill all over. ... show more

I bought this after researching all the various insulated 40 oz. mugs on Amazon. My daughters have various other expensive- branded mugs and they like them in most cases. One of them mentioned that she had been considering the Owala mugs because she was a little disappointed with the one that leaked quite a bit. I decided to order a warehouse deal from Amazon that was about eight dollars cheaper than usual price. The mug is a gorgeous watermelon color and I immediately washed it and put my ice and beverage in it at 4:00 p.m. Today, 20 hours later, the ice cubes from my icemaker are still about 3/4 their original size and the water is icy cold! Great cup. I am now getting rid of my other insulated mugs and gradually replacing them with Owalas as I can afford it. Very pleased with my purchase! ... show more
