  • The physical version is overpriced, but it's a great sequel physical or digital
I got this physical because we are a two switch family. I have a switch and my kids have a switch. In fact, I bought two copies of the physical and am giving one of them away as a gift. The first game is one of our favorite games to play as a family. It's crazy fun to play together. But it gets super hard. This sequel seems to have more variety and isn't quite as frustrating. This second game is more fun and more varied. There are things I really like. -They tweaked the engine. It feels like it's smoother and tighter and they added throwing. -It isn't harder. In fact, I think it's easier. We could just be better, but I really think the challenge is more balanced. -The graphics are very good. I wouldn't call the graphics amazing, but it looks good. Even more important, everything is clear and it's very easy to tell what everything is. -There is a good variety of characters to play as. -lots of variety in the levels. There are things I don't like: -I don't like how much the physical version is. -I hate that the pre-order bonus was a DLC code and not on the cart because it's now locked to one of our two switches. Not only that, but it would have helped the physical price seem a little more palatable if at least there were extra characters included in the physical version! -no voice chat on the switch. Yes, we do play mainly offline. But if fortnite can do it, so can overcooked. -It's still a horrible game to play alone. I'm also not sure how fun it really is online since laughing and yelling and failing and succeeding is what makes this game awesome! It really is best with 3 or 4 friends in one room! It's a great game for multiple people in the same room. I don't think online multiplayer changes that. I think you need at least three people screaming and laughing together to take this game to 11! If you've got the people, I really suggest this. They don't have to be great gamers to have fun, but it's best played by people who want to get better. I really like that everything can go horrible at first, but that you really get better together. I totally suggest this! ... show more

  • One of the best games I've ever played
As a lifelong gamer this has honestly placed in my top 5 games of all time. We play with friends who both do and don't play video games, as with basically 2 buttons and a joystick to control, almost anyone can pick it up and join the crazy kitchen madness with us. The game supports up to 4 players at a time and you can play online with friends, making it a great way to keep up with long distance friends or partners. Since it's primarily a collaborative game, this is also idea for teamwork (and a great option not to tick off your partner or friends, especially if they are non-gamers). The entire game and premise are totally absurd, with kitchens breaking in half or players having to run across the street to deliver ingredients (we make really cute roadkill). The style is also adorable, and there are a ton of humanoid and animal characters you can play. There is a lot of content you can simply unlock or get for free, such as seasonal updates for holidays, and great expansions with a lot of stages, characters, and mechanics if you decide to buy them (you don't have to, but it's totally worth it). The camping pack is extra hard, but honestly all of them were great and a ton of fun. Definitely would recommend, especially if you are newer to games or if you may be playing with others of mixed experience. This is a favorite group or party game of ours and I've gotten older parents with no experience playing with us! ... show more

  • Fun game for the family playable by 4 year old
This game is really fun, especially when playing with a few people. I play this with my wife, 4 year old, and 7 year old. Everyone is able to participate and enjoy themselves. It is really rare to have a game that an adult can enjoy and that a 4 year old can actually participate on in a meaningful way. The game does a good job at starting off pretty slow and is easy for the first couple of levels and it is easy to just redo a level to practice a bit. If your child can handle Kirby, Minecraft, or Mario Kart then there is a decent chance they can play this with some help. In the game you have to do a variety of tasks, chopping, cleaning dishes, frying, boiling, and serving. So, if your younger child is patient enough, you can give them a simple task such as "grab all the dirty dishes and wash them" or "just chop mushrooms and fish and put the chopped food on the table". Then they should easily be able to handle it. ... show more
