Description

Novoflex’s Chest pod is a great way to lend support when shooting with long lenses in scenarios where monopods and tripods would be impractical or prohibited. It begins as a comfortable neck strap, which articulates to a wide rubberized base that rests on your chest, usually just below your sternum. Attached to this base is an arm that ends with a swiveling plate which has a 1/4"-20 screw for attaching the tripod collar of the lens. Of course, with medium “fast” telephoto lenses such as an 85mm f/1.2 or f/1.4, 135mm f/2.0 or the like, you would attach the front of the Chest pod to the bottom of the camera. In this way, the shooter achieves a stable triangle of vibration- reducing assistance for those longer teles. Great for capturing sharp shots of scenes (such as popular tourist destinations) whose controllers have implemented anti-tripod rules in an attempt to sell their pictures. The Chest pod can be used on its own, or in conjunction with a quick release adapter (not included, sold separately) to speed up the attachment and detachment of the Chest pod and whatever you’re attaching to it.

  • Not only stabilizes but saves your arm muscles, too
This is a great product - the reason I give it 4 out of 5 stars is because you can't switch back and forth between horizontal and vertical shots without buying a very pricey attachment for it. I feel as though they could have designed it so that you could easily loosen a nut and rotate to one side or the other (like a tripod) rather than requiring a separate bracket for that function. I purchased this because I photograph weddings and I didn't want to be weighed down with gear (which hampers spontaneous photographs), and I wanted to "stabilize" my long lens without spending hundreds more on image stabilization. It fulfilled both of these purposes, and additionally, it kept my arms from getting tired while taking lots of shots with my long lens. I know that it's pricier than a tripod or a monopod, and it doesn't offer as much stabilization. (I can shoot at down to 1/60th of a second with my 200mm, which I ought not to be able to handhold at below 1/200th). But it gives me lots of mobility that even a monopod wouldn't give me, and it's much less expensive than the IS option on the long lenses. ... show more

  • Works pretty well, but fussy
I got this to use as a shoulder stock with longer lenses (like my 300 2.8, and even the 200-400 1.4X). While the connections require tightening from time to time, it does help steady the camera when photographing birds in flight. It takes a few tries to get it setup properly, but is very comfortable once it's in the zone. Much faster than a tripod. Gives you a 1-2 stop advantage, and sometimes that means everything. ... show more

  • Very helpful seller, good product
This product is a great idea to steady camera for photos taken with a long lenses. It was too heavy for a women in her 70’s with shoulder problems, wish I had it when I was stronger. Seller very cooperative and responsive.

  • Q Mount and Angle Bracket are not included
The Q mount quick release and angle bracket that are shown in the product photos are separate products that total an additional $230 if you want to buy them. This is not mentioned anywhere on the product page even though it looks like you get them with the shoulder support. Very misleading to not mention that these are separate items you have to buy. ... show more
