  • If this bag fits your needs, it’s the BEST out there
Let me preface by saying that this bag is NOT for everyone… Okay, so I’ve been looking for a bag like this since the moment I bought my first DSLR back in 2018. I’ve spent WAY too much time researching bags and they all came up as “not quite perfect”. Let me first explain what I was looking for… I’m in the military (stationed in Europe) so I travel a lot, and I needed a bag where I can safely store all my camera gear, drone, laptop, iPad, and accessories. And I wanted side access so I can get to my camera without opening the whole thing up, but still want the security of the rear zipper. Then on top of that I don’t want to have to deal with a separate bag for my clothes and such so I need it to fit 3-7 days worth of clothes too. Oh and I constantly find myself in crap weather so it needs to be water resistant (without having to fiddle with a rain cover), and it needs to fit in an overhead bin on an airplane. And on top of all of that, it needs to be comfy to wear. Cause I can’t stand lugging around uncomfortable backpacks. (First camera bag I bought in Korea taught me that lesson) Then along comes the PM Nomatic bag… and I swear it’s like it was made for me. Checks every single box on my list and then some. There’s creature comforts on this bag that I didn’t know I needed, but I love that they’re there and don’t want to deal with a bag that doesn’t have them now. With that being said, I think the purpose behind this bag is for traveling. I wouldn’t consider this a day pack to take hiking. It is BIG. By far the largest camera bag I’ve owned. And when you load this sucker up with gear, it can get real heavy too. I used this as a carry on when I deployed and I think it weighed 40 lbs when it was completely packed. But the suspension on it is great and I didn’t FEEL like I was lugging around a 40 lb backpack. Additionally, I loaded so much crap into it that I felt like Hermione loading up her magic purse. And yet it still fit in the overhead bin on the plane. The build quality on this bag is top notch. The materials feel wonderfully rugged on the outside and gentle but sturdy on the inside. On top of that it just looks good. It doesn’t scream, “Hey everyone look at me I’m a photographer!” It just looks like a normal travel bag. I thought about showing everything I stuffed into it when I deployed laid out on my bed next to the bag, but A) I don’t know if my queen sized bed is large enough and B) I just couldn’t be bothered. But trust me, it was a LOT. I will admit though that this backpack might be too large for small people. Not saying that women can’t use this bag, but if you have a small frame it may not be right for you. As a 6 foot tall 200 lb man this backpack fits me wonderfully. And I want to reiterate that this bag is for traveling, and is not a casual lightweight day bag. I was a bit hesitant originally about the $400 price tag for a backpack, but after receiving and using it I’m kicking myself for not ordering it sooner. It’s honestly the perfect bag for me. If you need a solid, large capacity, comfortable, multi day trip backpack then look no further. All the negative reviews are from people who are trying to use this bag for a purpose it wasn’t designed for. If you manage your expectations and actually NEED a bag that does everything this one can do, just pull the trigger. I am convinced it is the best camera backpack of its class on the market. ... show more

  • Surprisingly Worth $400
I got this bag because I was looking for the ultimate camera bag for weekend trips. I wanted to be able to stuff everything I needed for a 3 day adventure in to 1 bag without it being too bulky. I saw Peter Mckinnon's youtube video about this bag and was intrigued, but reeeeeeeeally skeptical about the $400 price tag. Well now that I've had it for about a week I can confidently say that if there was ever a bag worth that kind of cash, this is it. The quality and attention to detail in every aspect of the design are top notch. How the side pockets close with a magnet is just slick...they really thought of everything. I can fit my camera (1dx mark ii), 3 lenses, mavic pro, laptop, ipad, clothes for a couple days, chargers, and all the random accessories I need in this bag with ease. Everything is secure, protected, and easy to access when I need it. AND it somehow doesn't look or feel bulky while doing it. I am wildly impressed with whoever engineered this bag to be able to fit an obnoxious amount of stuff in it and still look this slim - it's not bulky at all. I can fit more stuff in this bag than my previous camera bag (Lowpro Protactic 450) but the Mckinnon bag looks and feels much less bulky. Slow clap for whoever figured this out...been waiting for a camera bag company to deliver something like this for a long time now. The one thing I wasn't a huge fan of at first was the zippers. They have this extra layer of material between the teeth and the pull, which makes them kind of difficult to zip at first. I'm guessing they added this material to make the bag more waterproof. However, after just a few days of using it the zippers have become much more smooth, so I think they just need to "break in" a bit. All in all - solid bag. Didn't think I'd say this but it's worth the high price tag. ... show more

  • So far, so good
I've taken this on a few travel shoots and have had no issues other than one of the zipper tube things coming off, but easy it relatively easy to put it back on a just tie a bigger knot. It's very customizable with the dividers that come with it, but I mostly just make big sections in the main compartment and pack creatively that way. Can easily carry everything for a few days in one bag, including some clothes and a small toiletries bag. Although the side pouch can carry a tripod, I normally just put my plastic water bottle there and attach my tripod to a sling so the weight is better balanced. The many internal zipper pockets are good for keeping small cables organized without needing to bring extra tech pouches. Expensive, but I would recommend. Also, I'm 5'7" and this bag looks borderline too tall for me, but I work with it anyway. Be careful not to pack too much gear because this can get really heavy with everything it can fit. ... show more

  • Absolutely love this bag!!!!!
This camera bag is a game changer. Love this bag. there really isn't much to say other than buy one. You will not regret it. it is pricey, but it will probably be the last bag you ever buy, seriously. I don't think I will ever buy another. only reason I would buy another bag is if mine starts to fall apart. and I would just buy another one of these. I have had this for a couple years now. and still in amazing condition. ... show more
