Okay, this "shade" does exactly what it says. Our bedroom is now as dark as a cave...but there is one, and only one so far, downside...the velcro tabs. We had put tabs on each corner, and in the middle, within 4 hours, the whole thing came tumbling down. Added more tabs, tried again...same thing happened. They are not staying on the fabric. Don't get me wrong, the velcro is good, it stays attached to each other, but the adhesive on the tab that stucks to the fabric is a joke. We just used some thumbtacks and it did the trick. If not for the adhesive fail, it would be a 10/10, but with the adhesive...9.5/10 because the thumbtacks are an easy fix. ... show more

For the price of the product, I didn’t have high hopes. It came quickly and was incredibly easy to put up. The corner room of our apartment is SO hot and we can’t put curtains up. This helped me not only get around that rule, but also completely darken my room! I was worried about the adhesive it comes with sticking to my wall since it’s a weird texture and command hooks sometimes don’t work. The adhesive was absolutely amazing and stuck with zero problems. The substantial plastic sheet has color on one side and is metallic on the other. The thing it doesn’t say anywhere is that the adhesion is 1” square adhesive Velcro pads. It gives you a lot of them. In my case the curtain was the same size as the window. 3 pads on the top of the window hold it securely. I have a removable fan in that window so I just rolled it up and put a large paper clip at each end. Works better than any of the blackout curtains I have. You could put pads on the sides but I did not find that necessary. The instructions don’t tell you anything about the pads. One side has a longer pull off sheet. Pull off the short side and put that on the curtain. Hold the curtain up to the window with the pad on it and then take the removable sheet off the pad to adhear it to the frame. Start with the center one and it will hold itself up enough for one person to do it all. But you may need help with a large window. To use the curtain on more than one window take a fresh Velcro pad, remove the side that would stick on the plastic curtain. Put it onto the one already there. Repeat the process of putting the curtain up. ... show more

I only got this to block out the sun, since I'm a night owl and need my daytime sleep. Perfect blackout, but I didn't expect it to help with the heat as well. I honestly thought it was going to make it worse. My bedroom and bathroom get the direct sunlight after 1pm and it feels like an oven on hot days, but it is much more cool than ever before and stays cool easier. So glad I got this before the hottest days started. That was just lucky. The material is waterproof as well. Perfect for taking showers in the day. The sun usually blinds me coming in through the window, but I was able to set it up so when I shower, I only remove one corner (since it came with highly reliable velcro stickers) to let the steam out and leave the rest of the window covered. I wish I found this sooner. It is also very durable. My cat gets mad that I blocked the window so he keeps squeezing his way in. Not sure how long he can keep doing that before it all falls apart, but so far so good. No signs of any problems other than my cat getting stuck because the velcro is strong and doesnt give away like he would want. Defitely would buy more in the future if I need it. ... show more

I have a one year old and a 2.5 year old, they both sleep in complete darkness. When we travel I struggle to get the room dark enough. I purchased other blackout travel curtains before but they were so bulky and took up so much space. I think these are brilliant because they're so thin and flat and actually do a better job at getting the room fully dark. The only downside is that you have to remove the sticker velcro after and eventually run out of these. I still prefer this over others I got. Really happy with this buy ... show more

It's getting hotter out, and so I bought this portable blackout curtain to keep the heat out as well as keep my bedroom nice and dark at night. I put the shade above the AC in my bedroom window so that I can have the AC running at night while also stopping the outside light from getting in. I was able to install it on my own in about 10 minutes, and it's holding up great. This blackout blind/curtain does exactly that! I purchased enough to cut in half so I could cover both of my bedroom windows. After I installed the blackout material to the window frames and switched off the light, no light came through from outside and my bedroom felt like it was 11 O'clock and time to go to sleep. The sticky velcro that was included I put up and within 12 hours some had fallen off. I put them back and they fell off again. I decided to just use pushpins instead and took the rest down but some ripped the paint off my window frame. Major bummer. I can't imagine if you left them up long term the damage they could cause. The velcro is also stronger than the sticky backing so the sticky pulls off the frame before the velcro separates. ... show more
