I have been using this easel for about a month now. I wanted an inexpensive easel to hold my tapestry weaving. This was pretty easy to assemble and is pretty sturdy. My only complaint is that I need the little screwdriver it comes with to adjust it up and down which I do often to reach the current spot I’m weaving. I’d also appreciate a little lip on the top to hold the loom frame a little more securely as sometimes it comes off with light pressure. This easel seems sturdy enough, which is the primary quality I was looking for. However, as other reviewers have said, some pieces of the wood arrived with cracks in them. These cracks have no impact on the easel’s performance at the moment (I just assembled it), but they might eventually. We’ll see. Tightening and loosening the various parts is a little awkward because there is no dial you turn—you have to actually loosen and tighten the wingnuts on the screws if you’re changing the size of the canvas on the easel—but it works. It looks a little cheap, but I don’t care about that at all. It was very easy to put together. Took me 15 to 20 minutes. One aspect that might be a dealbreaker for some is that the bottom tray only goes up to about three feet off the ground, so if you’re planning on standing while working on smaller paintings, this is definitely not the easel for you. Overall, this easel does exactly what I need it to do. And for about $40, I’m willing to put up with the downsides I stated. If this review seemed overly negative, it’s because there’s not much I can say about the positives. It’s stable and holds paintings tightly. What more do you need? ... show more

    • You get what you pay for, but it works very well
I own many expensive easels, and on a trip of some length I needed something cheap and useful. This easel was very helpful, but I gave it away in the end to someone who needed an easel. It's easy to put together, but adjusting the easel one needs the screw driver for each adjustment. I gave it five stars because I needed something cheap, and this easel did the trick for the entire trip. Would I use this in my home studio? No. ... show more

I wasn’t expecting some outstanding quality for the price purchased but I would have at least expected the pieces would fit together properly. I ended up having to shave some of the pieces down for the frame to hold together. Some of the indicated holes weren’t even fully drilled through.
