This trolling motor battery cable extension kit allows you to extend the length of your trolling motor cables by 10 feet, allowing for better weight distribution of your boat through battery relocation. Adding a trolling motor to your boat can quickly change the weight distribution, and handling characteristics, especially of smaller craft like kayaks, canoes and Jon boats. I bought a jon boat and wanted to put my trolling motor on the bow but keep the battery near the transom. This kit let me extend my wiring. I ended up cutting the wires and soldering them to my trolling motor wires with shrink wrap to make waterproof and permanent. 10/10 would buy again.

    • Thick gauge wire, easy option for extending troller motor cables

Wire gauge is plenty to handle the amperage to Newport Vessels trolling motor...purchased to extend the 4-ft cables on a 55 lb thrust Newport Vessels trolling motor, no issues with current or the cables running warm. Only downside is that the POSITIVE lead is too small for the positive battery post on my size 29DC EverStart marine battery. Positive posts are typically larger diameter than the negative. The manufacturer didn't account for this difference, both connectors are the same diameter, so I had to drill out the positive connector lead in order to fit around the positive battery terminal. Not a major issue, but something to be aware of when ordering these extension cables. The 2 cables are also not attached to one another, so plan on zip-tying them together or keeping them coiled up can be an issue. ... show more

I would rate this purchase as okay, but I should have just purchased similar length 10 gauge marine grade wire instead of paying more for this kit. I ended up having to dremel out the positive connector to fit the terminal on my Minnkota battery box. I expected that part and it worked out fine with little material lost on the connector. The 2 brass bolt connectors work, but I ended up scrapping that and put a plug on my trolling motor cable and the end of the extension kit for ease of use which is why I wish I had just purchased some wire. I could have done the same thing much cheaper. I rate this as a 4 star kit because it does work as advertised. I'm not knocking their product. It appears well made. My fault for purchasing this when I could have done the same thing for less money with better thought and planning. ... show more

This cable set allowed me to place my extremely heavy deep cycle battery in the bow of my 12 foot Pelican Intruder Jon boat. I weigh 260 and distributing the weight allows the boat to perform perfectly. Worked to get my batter in the front of 14 ft boat to help get on plain better The wire seems to be of quality and it works for its intended use I ended up cutting the one end off and putting a Atwood plug. In my case this was going to be used as a permanent fix. If your also looking to do something permanent I would recommend just buying wire and making everything your self but if you wanna hook something up that can be taken off this wood be a great thing. ... show more
