The media could not be loaded. Summary: Works well enough as a “just in case backup” remote but I wouldn’t recommend it for regular use. If you need a Roku remote and have a smartphone it would be better to just use their free “The Roku App” that has a built-in remote with more features. Pros: - Immediately recognized by TCL Roku TV with no need for pairing. Cons: - Spotty connectivity. Sometimes has input delay. Sometimes have to press a button more than once for it to register. Also, the Roku app has a keyboard feature that is a lot easier to use than having to click around to different letters with the sometimes weirdly functioning buttons on this remote. - Loud “ok,” arrow, and volume buttons. If you’re a person who watches TV at night while others are sleeping the sound may bother them. - Doesn’t have a voice recognition feature or the ability to use it with headphones like the original remote and the app do, but I honestly would’ve been surprised if it did at this price point. - Not specific to this remote and just a disadvantage physical remotes have in comparison to the app: it doesn’t work if anything is blocking direct line of sight from it to the TV. I got used to using the app from my phone and being able to turn off my TV from a different room across the house. ... show more

I bought this as a replacement for a previous controller that broke and was exactly the same as this kind. Nothing in particular needed to be done to set this up with our tv. It was easy peasy, ready to use straight from the package and the price was very reasonable at the time that it was bought (I can’t exactly remember how much it was; less than $10, though).
