This is a very comfortable shoe for gym workouts. They are serious when they say it runs small. I normally wear a 10 wide and ordered a 10-1/2 wide. They are almost too short but still comfortable. I like them so much I ordered a second pair.

I wore out my first pair of New Balance Minimus shoes. I bought my first pair of Minimus for weight workouts. And now I just love having these on my feet! Lots of toe room and I can feel the ground. But there is no cushion for your sole, so I wouldn't wear them for running or standing around for long periods of time. ... show more

    • I was so excited for this shoe
I usually wear an 8.5 wide shoe and sometimes an 8 in sandals. In New Balance shoes I wear a 9.5 wide, so that's what I ordered in the Minimus. It is advertised as having a wide toe box, seemingly as a more barefoot shoe. I tried them on and they are way too tight. The shoe is slightly shorter than my other 9.5 wide NBs, and way more narrow. The difference is widths looks greater than the difference between a regular width shoe and a wide width shoe. If I was to order them again, I would probably have gone with a 10.5 to be safe, but I'm sure the width would still be an issue. Also the tongue is too big, weird, and sewn down halfway up the shoe. The way the toe box is wider doesnt really align with where my feet need to them to be wider, and the midsole area is very tight around my arch. It doesn't have a pull loop on the back of the shoe. And the outsole is mesh but with zero stretch so that doesn't help with the width issue either. I was so disappointed, as there's nothing I did like about this shoe. I like that these shoes are minimalist and don’t have two inches of foam on the bottom. I can feel the ground without being barefoot if that makes sense.

I prefer a minimus shoe for working out/walking/running. New Balance stopped making my favorite minimus shoe so I needed to find a new one. I read reviews and ordered a half size up ( I am a six and a half and ordered a size 7). Overall, the shoes would fit perfectly if I had ordered a full size up (to a 7.5). I have wide feet with a broad-toe splay. There is ample room in the toe box for my foot to spread out. There is no heel slippage or rubbing on the back of the foot. The shoe fits snugly, but not too tight with a light lift - as a minimus should have. I am pleased with this purchase but unfortunately cannot wear them, but do wish that I could send it back for a size 7.5. ... show more

    • Colorful and Stable foundation for machine work
Tried as part of Amazon's Try Before You Buy program; they are comfortable to wear but are limited to machine work (elliptical, rowing, bike, etc. and no-impact resistance training). It's closer to a barefoot style, so without cushioning I would not recommend this for walking/running (indoor/treadmill/outdoor) or any activity where you'd have to repeatedly lift your feet, which could result in pain radiating to your ankles, knees and hips. I don't know if I'd even wear these for athleisure for lengthy walking. ... show more

    • Not a minimalist sneaker
Size: 8.5 Color: Black/Outerspace
New Balance made the best minimalist sneaker with their minimus 10 v1. I bought them every year. I wore them backpacking and on 17-22 mile day hikes. The thin sole took away all my foot problems and help me maintain balance on rocky terrain way better than hiking boots. They had so much grip I used them for climbing half dome with the cables down, and climbing on rocks in Joshua tree. These new ones are basically a regular sneaker. I can understand this being a good sneaker for someone that wants a normal sneaker but now I’m in the market for a new minimal sneaker because that’s not what these are.
