  • Comfortable and attractive active shoe
1/30/20 UPDATE; on my third pair, and haven't even CONSIDERED another daily shoe. I've done as much as 20 miles a day in them, pulled a 735lb deadlift in them, and I'm here to grab a fourth pair. For any buyers on the large side, here's the combo I run after trial and error to find the best fit/feel; -Dr Scholl's heavy duty insoles -Round elastic laces (I use locklace without the locks, worn tight) -Saucony athletic socks (imo fit/last/support better than Reebok) ORIGINAL REVIEW; Right off the bat, the only reason i'm currently giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is the price. At $80 I'd like to see a foam sole shoe come with a nonslip outsole. This would be a 5 star shoe at $65. General Review; I've owned a LOT of shoes. I'm very active, a big dude, and harder than most on them. My first impression of these shoes is simply that they might be the most comfortable set of shoes i've ever worn that aren't house slippers. Between work and cardio i rack up 25-30 miles a week, and so far i have zero issues to note in the first week. I'll update if a problem does arise. PROs; Shockingly comfortable. The design on this shoe is stellar and hugs your foot evenly with minimal effort Springy step without being bouncy, walking requires minimal effort Maneuverable and light Looks great The heel cup does its job as intended CONs; I don't know if it's just me, but the laces that come on NB shoes are always WAY too long. I don't have small feet by any means and i'm always left with at least a full 10"-12" of lace per side before tying, and this means that they come untied 2-3 times a day when i'm doing something on my knees at work. Plan on replacing the laces or cutting them down. (BTW NB, if you want to stand out, ditch the traditional laces for elastic ones) The factory insert is beyond useless as usual. Mine was worn flat after the first day. I personally use the Dr Scholls Heavy Duty insoles in my shoes and they are hugely complementary to this pair ... show more

  • Lightweight, great for people with wide feet!
Size: 7.5 Wide Color: Magnet/Black
Im a woman with really wide feet. After having 3 kids, they just became super wide. I decided to get men's shoes bc they're more comfy. I love these shoes. The toe box is perfect, and theyre super light weight. They're perfect for the gym and casual wear. Im not sure how they are with running, since I don't run anymore I bought the gray and black ones at the same tine. My only problem is the gray ones are bigger than the black OR the black ones are smaller than the gray? They are both 7.5, so there's inconsistency with the sizing. The gray ones are still comfy even though they are a little bigger. ... show more

  • Best shoes ever!
Size: 14 Wide Color: Black/Light Aluminum
I bought these shoes for my husband after reviewing them on different sites. It’s so hard to find a good looking shoe for people with foot problems. My husband has planters fasciitis, tendinitis and extremely flat feet. He wakes up in the morning limping in pain and his day as a personal trainer is hell on his feet. No joke, these shoes changed his life. He has a bunion on each big toe that also causes pain so the wide width helps so much. He wears orthotics for his arches and they fit in the shoe perfectly. This is the very first shoe that he can wear all day working out and being on his feet that actually don’t hurt him after the first hour. We bought the shoe in three different colors so he can alternate them. It is the only shoe he can wear at this point. Everything else hurts him. Not to mention our 18-year-old son thought they looked pretty cool and wanted a pair himself. Every other shoe for people with foot problems look like big square grandpa shoes. Also, he wears a size 14 wide so it’s very hard to find shoes. I highly recommend these for anyone who needs a comfortable shoe! And if you have foot pain.....get these! ... show more

  • OK but larger-than-average toe box
Size: 9.5 Color: Magnet/Black
I normally wear Nike shoes but thought I'd give these a try. I ended up returning them because of some factors that are unique to my foot, and some factors that are more general and may apply to others. 1) Sizing. I've worn Nike size 10 for years, across multiple models. With these, I ended up getting a 10 and a 9.5 and the half size down (9.5) fit much better. 2) The toe box on these is noticeably large. If you have a foot that broadens considerably around the front then these will be great. If not, they'll almost certainly be too loose and you'll slide around. 3) I'm not a fan of attached tongues. 4) There's a balance between the uppers of this type of shoe being flexible so that it conforms to the foot, and stiff so the lacing can have it hug the foot and the overall upper can hold the foot and give stability. My sense is that NB went too far towards flexibility and the result is a shoe that is comfortable when at rest but moves around too much when put under any lateral stress. In the end, I think I'll go back to finding a Nike, they seem to fit my foot better. ... show more

  • Excellent lightweight walking shoe
I owned probably a dozen pair of the Fresh Foam Cruz Sport before they were discontinued. It fit my foot perfectly and lasted forever with the solid rubber outsole. An excellent shoe all-around. The Roav appears to be the direct successor to that shoe and New Balance has evolved the design. Couple of things to note: 1. These things are huge. I'm a 12 and my wife is a 9.5. We returned both pairs for a half-size smaller at 11.5 and 9 respectively. They fit much better now. 2. The heel area is extremely wide. If you have large ankles or a wide heel, you'll be very happy with these. For me, they are still wide but not so wide they fall off. 3. Not a chance these shoes could be used for running. I walk a ton and they are the perfect walking shoe. They have a ton of support and they are breathable. If I tried running in these, I'm sure they would fly off my feet. 4. Fit is crucial because they don't have a standard tongue in the shoe. These are slip-ons with laces. Over tightening them causes discomfort because the shoe itself is being tightened and not a tongue. Hope that's helpful! In closing, this is a great shoe for walking, lounging, or shopping but they aren't for the gym or running. Order a 1/2 size down and expect to wear them as slip-on sneakers which aren't snug. ... show more
