  • This thing rocks!
I just upgraded to a new 4K projector and receiver and bought some 4K Blu Rays of my favorite films. IN the meantime, I ordered this NEUMI ATOM player, just to see what it could do. I loaded a 66.7 GB file of one of those movies onto a 3TB external hard drive, hooked up the hard drive and the Neumi to my receiver, and ... oh, my! The picture and sound were absolutely beautiful. My go-to method of watching video is to stream it to my Roku with Plex Media Server. This Neumi player, however, works so much better, especially with those huge files. No buffering, no hiccups, no freezes ... just solid 4K content! It loads quickly (almost immediately), plays every file format I have, and asks if you want to pick up where you left off if you stop the movie before it ends. This is all I want for Christmas this year! I can't think of anything else I would rather have. ... show more

  • A simple media player that works very well!
I've been using a WD Live media player for many years. It had a lot of "bells and whistles" that this media player doesn't have. While I did like the WD media player's movie title cards and the information it provided for each video file, it took a long time for the player to load up. Also, the WD media player being 12-year-old does not play 4K content. So, now about this player... The Neumi Atom 4K Ultra is a basic player that loads up quickly and plays several media formats without issue. I am using a Sandisc 512GB flash drive that is recognized by the Atom 4K in NTFS file format. The file menu is basic, simply showing the titles listed in an easy-to-read format. The remote is very basic as well, but easy to use too. This Atom 4K Ultra unit is SMALL, smaller than a deck of cards, and won't take up much space. While small, the build quality is solid. ... show more

  • Great player for GoPro 4k videos
This is a great tool for low tech businesses that sell entertainment/adventure. I do a lot of skydiving and we like to review video for training purposes. Lots of older laptops can not play back 4K video easily. This device is super tiny and allows us to take the SD cards out of the GoPro, put it directly in the player and quite quickly get playback going on a large screen TV without scaling back our GoPro video quality. A couple features would be nice to have, but this does quite well for the price and size. Features I'd like to see added or at least more intuitive (cause I don't know if they exist): 1) Slow motion playback. 2) I assume this device becomes useless if someone loses the remote. I have no idea how to control it without the remote. ... show more

  • Great For What It Was Made For
I purchased this device open box, as new. I expect it was returned because the person got it as a gift from someone who didn't understand what a media player does when they gifted it, or by someone who thought it did things it cannot do. These simple media players do not connect to the internet. They are not a Roku, or a Firestick. They were created to play media files you created with a camera or computer, or downloaded from the internet. Android TV boxes can do the same things and also connect to the internet, and I've recently used them to play video files, but I think the NEUMI Atom 4K has better capabilities as far as which files it can play, and it can read a larger USB drive. I have one particular MKV file that is always a problem, even with other media players I have, and the NEUMI had no problem with it. I have not tried it with photos or music at this point, but expect I'll have no issues with it. The on screen menu you get when you press the menu button changes according to the kind of file you are using, by the way. The remote is a simple one...uncluttered and easy to figure out. The buttons fell solid, and are not mushy when you press them. I thought I read a review critical of the interface you see on the screen, but there isn't much you can do to make it more high tech when only thing the machine does is to find, open, and play various media files. This media player is very small, yet it has 2 USB ports, an HDMI connection (cable not included, which was not a problem in my case), a slot for SD cards, and an audio/video out jack for RCA jack connections for older TVs. It also includes the RCA connector cable. For what I purchased it for, this model of the NEUMI is perfect...and the same should be true for anyone who knows what this media player can and can't do. ... show more

  • Another photo viewer fails to make the grade
There are two very noticeable problems with this unit. The first is that there is no IR extension. If one is inclined to keep units out of sight, as I am, the remote won't work. Even when it is in sight, the IR comes across as very weak, and won't work from the other side of the room I am testing it on. The other problem is getting the photo to fill the screen. They have a 'stretch' option, but have implemented it poorly. The image looks bad. The better approach to doing this kind of operation is to have a non-linear stretch. The edges are stretched more than the center. This may also be done in conjunction with a slight trimming of the photo. It is not hard to do. My other failed unit appears to do this aspect well enough (but fails in other regards). Other issues are the primitive nature of photo selection. The one thing that does work is that the slideshow actually runs and keeps running (sad that we even have to state that as one of its positives, but the other unit didn't) My quest to find any photo viewer that does a halfway decent job of a very obvious and technically simple task continues. I am not optimistic. ... show more
