  • Absolutely amazing!
Style: Machine Only Color: Black
I really researched this brand, and model, before purchasing it. Espresso, with the convenience of a pod system sounded almost too good to be true. Obviously K cup machines are extremely convenient, but the tradeoffs really matter. I won’t bore everyone with the ways I make K cups better, but in short, you lose the convenience. I spent many hours researching the choice. The first decision was Original Line versus Vertuo. While the extra features and technology of Vertuo were attractive, the fact that you cannot try other brands pods, made me go with the Original Line. After tasting the Original Line pods, being captive to Nespresso wouldn’t be that bad, but there are superior alternative brands for Original Line, that not only taste great, they are less expensive. I really preferred the ability to be able to try other brands, so the Original Line was my choice. That said, after trying Nespresso brand Original Line pods, I would not rule out adding a Vertuo at a later time. You might be captive, but they do make great tasting options. This model is an Innesia, although they don’t mention it in the listing. My primary reason for this exact model was the flip up drip tray, which was a great decision. The smaller Original limits the size of your cup, unless you remove the whole drip tray, while this one flips up, and out of your way. The smaller area that catches the used pods was insignificant, as with my Keurig I have to throw out each pod. This catches between 5-7 empty pods, which is fine. The smaller water reservoir was no big deal either, as adding fresh water is better than using it stagnant. If you want the bigger pod catcher, and reservoir, go for a Citiz, or Plus, Original Line. Along with the machine, which does come with samples, I ordered the 50 pod Nespresso variety package. I wanted to give them a chance, before trying other brand pods. I was extremely surprised at the quality of the the espresso. I don’t consider myself a “coffee snob,” but I do know the difference between traditionally made espresso, both real from a coffee shop, or homemade from an actual real stove top espresso pot, or a homemade espresso machine. Is this exactly as good? That is a tough call, but the convenience does not cost you the quality that you lose from K cups. It is extremely close, and just plain espresso, ristretto, and lungo, are all exceptional. Once you decide to add anything, such as milk, flavored syrup, or even sweetener, any difference is completely gone. In summary, I am glad I put the time in deciding, and if you have any hesitation with the Nespresso models, skip it. These machines are really excellent, and the convenience really trumps any possible negatives. Extremely recommended machine, I just wish I tried one sooner. Enjoy! ... show more

  • Works well enough to ditch Starbucks, but has some performance/mechanical flaws
Style: Machine + Aero Color: Black
I will start with - I am not a coffee or espresso snob at all. For at least 5 years my daily fix has been satisfied by Starbucks at about $4-5 per day, which adds up. However, I don't really spend exorbitant amounts of money on other habits like smoking or going to bars, so it worked for my budget. But to be honest, the coffee drinks I like (mochas) are too many calories and going to Starbucks every morning was getting inconvenient. I had a Mr. Coffee espresso machine for a year, but it created too many dishes to wash and the product wasn't strong enough. Finally in December 2017 I was fed up and searched for a better quality espresso machine. I settled on the Nespresso with the Aeroccino because the reviews were great and it looked like there would only be one dish to hand wash - the aeroccino itself. The pods ARE pricey and there's a minimum order to fill, but priced out, my drink came to $1.50/day (I use two pods) vs $4-5 a day at Starbucks. This is a difference of $45 vs $150 per month. The taste of the espresso is great - I use the Kazaar pods. But it did take me a week or week and a half to get used to the nespresso caffeine vs. Starbucks. I was groggy for that adjustment period. Now it keeps me going til afternoon and then I just have a cup of tea later. As far as the performance of the Aeroccino, it's weak. It does not really steam the milk well, it heats it up and then froths the top layer. The foam is not appealing to me. I've tried all fat contents of milk to compare. However, it's 'good enough' for me. The Aeroccino is easy enough to clean, especially if you do it right after you froth so the milk residue doesn't get caked on. My major issue is that the Aeroccino stopped working for me today after only owning the machine for a month. I have a 4 year protection plan, but it is still covered by the manufacturer's warranty at the moment. This is disappointing and I hope that I had a defective unit and the replacement will work for a long time. I'll update in a few months. ... show more

  • Out of Date Item
Style: Machine + Aero Color: Black
I purchased this item some months ago. I now decided to use it and the unit leaks water, does not dispense espresso well at all. Amazon referred me to Nespresso and they informed me that this is no longer in production and has not been for some time. Nespresso offered to give me a discount towards a new unit should I desire to purchase a current item in production. Why offer products that have gone out of use. Nespresso informed me that parts aren't available for out of production items. Amazon, this is my first major dissatisfaction with a purchase. I feel more attention should be given to items you are offering . If it where possible this would have been submitted without any star rating. Not happy. ... show more

  • Exceeds expectations
Style: Machine Only Color: Black
I've thought about buying a Nespresso for several years and now have had mine for one week and I am impressed. I was concerned about getting "Keurig quality" espresso (ie, good but much lower quality than doing it yourself) but that fear was unfounded. The espresso I get from this machine is better than what I've gotten at Starbucks and a local coffee shop. The pods are a little pricey but that helps me limit the amount of espresso I drink per day, which is probably a good thing. The manual that came with my machine said it brews three sizes; ristretto, espresso and lungo but in reality, there are only two buttons, one each for espresso and lungo. That's not a criticism because I did my research and wasn't expecting a ristretto option but the manual made it a bit confusing. You can program the buttons for shorter or longer shots if you really want a ristretto shot. The water tank is pretty small (but so is the machine itself) and with running it once to warm everything up, pulling a shot or two and then running it again to clean it, the tank empties pretty fast. Not a big deal but something to keep in mind when considering this machine. I'm very please with my Nespresso and now I'm figuring out which pods I prefer. ... show more
