🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Neewer Vision 4 Outdoor Studio gets overall positive reviews for its consistent performance, easy use, and powerful lighting ability, making it an excellent lighting option for outdoor photography. However, reviewers have mentioned a few drawbacks including a quickly draining battery, a lack of adjustments for power output via the trigger, and its comparatively heavy weight.

Pros

  • 📸 Provides consistent and powerful lighting for outdoor shoots
  • 🔄 Easy to use and set up in different locations
  • 💡 Comes with a reliable trigger
  • 🔒 Has a durable and solid build quality

Cons

  • 🔋 Battery drains quickly, even when not in use
  • 🔌 No ability to adjust power output via trigger
  • ⚖️ Heavier than expected, making it slightly less portable

Should I Buy It?

If you're a photographer who does a lot of outdoor shooting and needs strong, consistent lighting, the Neewer Vision 4 Outdoor Studio could be a valuable addition to your gear, despite its battery life and weight issues. It is suggested to purchase extra batteries or a portable charger, and to consider a strong stand or other support for the equipment due to its weight.

  • Canon EOS R100 User Alert
if you are planning on using this on location strobe light with the canon R 100 camera, make sure you buy hot shoe adapter piece for PC connection and synchronization. I had to learn this the hard way after the pin that is on the transmitter studio light does it with contact in hotshoe of the canon EOS R 100. here is the Amazon link to that adapter, once you slip that baby in the hot shoe, your transmitter should be able to fire off the light. https://a.co/d/hUfy6Mq <—— link to adaptor for Canon EOS R100 users ... show more

  • Mixed Feelings, but a Terrific Value
I was excited to get this light as an affordable step up to a strobe from speedlights. I wanted strobe power but with a battery - something portable that I could easily take on outdoor shoots. This was not my first choice, but the price was right, and it was worth trying this out. What I love: It is powerful - 300ws of power, enough to overpower the sun when shooting in bright conditions. Easy to use - with very little experience using a strobe, I was able to quickly start using this without pouring through the (small) user guide. Excellent battery life - I've not yet been able to run down the battery after at least a couple hundred shots. Durable - as others have noted, it is built like a tank. Reliable - With over 200 shots, I've not noticed any misfires, and the light, as best I can tell, has been quite even. What I'm less thrilled with: Size & weight - while very portable, this has some heft to it; not something you want to lug long distances. Trigger - extremely low build quality and no options to adjust the light remotely. Features are limited - modeling light controls are limited to on/off and it will only stay on for around 1 minute; unless I'm missing it, you're limited to full-stop adjustments from 1/1 to 1/128 - 1/3 increments would help; and most importantly, no support for HSS and TTL. One of the benefits of a powerful light like this is the ability to add light in bright environments, but without HSS, you're left wanting/needing an ND filter for shooting at wider apertures. I'm honestly on the fence about this light. For the price, it is hard to imagine a better value. I've not come across a light this powerful, especially one with a trigger (yes, it's cheap, but it works), for anywhere close to this price. But that is where I am wondering about keeping this. For a little more money, you can get the Godox/Flashpoint AD200. It is not as powerful, but is way more portable and has a variety of affordable modifiers available. Portability is probably a little more important to me than power, but I'm so pleased with the light and what all that power can do that I'm inclined to keep this. BTW, I've had pretty good success using this with cheap speedlights set as optical slaves. This opens up a lot more shooting options. ... show more

  • Perfect for a portable photo setup
I use 2 of these for taking sport portraits for a local school. They're easy to transport & set up, although it would be nice if they came with a carrying case. The batteries last a long time, enough to do at least several hours of shooting. The included transmitter is simple & makes it foolproof. When I was a beginner to OCF, this eased my mind. Just remember that it will ONLY work with these lights. I do not recommend using large modifiers in the bowens mount with these due to the weight & strain on the screw that adjusts the tilt. I have a 48" octabox that is nearly too heavy. I'm afraid it will strip out. ... show more

  • Couldn’t hold a softbox
I am a beginner photographer and bought this as my first strobe light but it couldn’t hold the weight of the same company softbox, maybe it has some issues so I returned it and ordered again lets see if it can hold it and apart from that the light works great

  • Get it!
I bought this for flambient real estate photography. Its really fantastic with quite a bit of power while being the cheapest thing that is ready to go with the trigger. I love it.

  • Quality Body, Powerful Light, Easy use.
Absolutley love this light. Solid build, Extremely bright. Only wish it had 1 /128th power option it stops at 1/64th, but honestly not an issue. Fair weight, screws and knobs feel great and hold well. Im posting some of my images to show what is capable, I hate seeing reviews with no real quality samples of whats possible. Setup was a promaster LS-2n 9' stand and a pro master white to black/white 36 inch umbrella for the studio strobe, and a simple speedlight behind. I felt like there was a slight green tinge to it but that's easily correctable and barely noticeable, I'm just a perfectionist. The thing is ready to fire again almost immediately after a shot. Love the 2.4ghz trigger that comes with it, easy setup grab and go. The battery life is great, but it was just shorter than i expected but I am not expecting to be a problem whatsoever. I bought an apache 5800 water proof protective case to place it in and it just exactly fits with room for two speedlights an extra battery and the triggers plus some AA's and the charger. ... show more

  • Five years on
I don't know about other peoples' experiences, but I've had this strobe for 5 years and it has always performed as expected. I've never had an issue with the trigger and its fallen more than twice when people or wind have hit the stand its on, and its hit the ground and keeps working. It still looks good after more than 100 gigs in five years... So yes I love it for its consistency and toughness and no noone paid me to say that! ... show more
