I don’t know much about acupuncture pens. This electronic one came with a little pamphlet that shows where the acupuncture points are on the body and what they affect. The unit is plastic and the tips are metal. I think it’s a great one to start with to make sure that you like the feeling of muscles twitching before you spend a lot of money on one. I love it! I used it without conduction gel on level 1 and it sort of tickled my skin. When I moved the tip to an acupuncture point, I could tell immediately. I did a little research on energy-conduction gels. I’m a newbie, but it looks like you don’t have to have special conduction gels but whatever you use, it should be OIL FREE. You can search online about it. There are special gels for faces if you are looking for the anti-aging effects of the massage pen. ... show more

It doesn’t have any power to it. Doesn’t do much of anything. I was hoping it would help come of my chronic pain from being injured on deployment in the Marine Corps. It couldn’t even ease the tension in one of the spots let alone the many sources of the pain. I’m really disappointed.

I really like the unit, the charge lasts for a very long time. The run time is short; I almost wonder if it might benefit from running even longer but it's been everything I'd hoped. I do warn the next shopper though, consider what's beneath it (because drips and drops will fall right out the bottom on whatever is underneath) and the power chord doesn't include a wall/voltage adapter; it's a USB cable which was disappointing but easily resolved. ... show more
