The measured length of this item, is 14" from the outside top of the eye, to the bottom of the thread end. The eye loop measured 2" diameter, leaving 12" from the bottom of the eye to the end of the thread. Seems to be made of high quality steel. The thread size is 5/8 x 11.

This is the length (12") of eye bolt you'll need to get through a true 8" thickness material with washers. PERIOD. For some unknown reason, National/Stanley INCLUDES the eye dimension in the overall dimension. Buy a 3" bolt and you'll have 3" of threads/shank PLUS the thickness of the hex head. That applies to lags, screws, bolts, etc but apparently NOT EYE BOLTS. WHY IN THE HECK WOULD THE EYE BE INCLUDED IN THE DIMENSIONS!!!!!!????? The EYE is the operative part of this bolt. It ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY should NOT be included in the LENGTH dimension!!!!!! Don't make the mistake I, and undoubtedly hundreds of other Amazon customers (or ANY hardware store customers have made as these are the dimensions listed by Stanley/National THEMSELVES) and order a 10" length eye bolt to fit your 8" whatever. What do you think you'll receive? an eye bolt with 10" of shank, right? WRONG!!! The 'Eye" is the operative part of the bolt and therefore should NOT be included in the length dimension, and despite ALL logic, IT IS. At first I thought it was just Amazon's mistake as my first 10" bolt only had the Amazon UPC/Description sticker on it. It wasn't til I had to re-order in in a 12" length that I saw the same ERROR on the OEM Stanley/National original UPC sticker that was on it. So while I'm 100% satisfied in this product, I'm STILL giving it a 1 star review. Call that deceptive or "I'm reviewing the wrong aspect" of the product. The ONE star is an "attention getter" hopefully to save future customers the hassle of buying the wrong size bolt. Once you receive the proper sized bolt for your application, I think you'll be more than satisfied. I can't comment on the longevity of the zinc plating finish, but the bolt is well made and the threads are cut cleanly. I've attached a pic of the first 10" bolt I received (THIS IS NOT A PIC OF THE 12" EYE BOLT BEING REVIEWED...WHICH DIDN'T EVEN HAVE 10" OF SHANK). Hopefully you can read Amazon's sticker, which is concurrent with the OEM sticker. My tape CLEARLY shows 8" of shank on a bolt listed at 10" ... show more
