It was quite easy to setup -- you just needed to align all the stickers in their proper places on each tier. I had to look at the box initially to ensure I was doing it right because the instructions weren't so clear on this. I like that you can set it up in the volcano shape, which looks like more of a challenge to toss the sacs in it. Or you can separate the tiers and space them in any configuration you want. The volcano is made of hard plastic. I like that you can sort of collapse the smaller tiers into the largest tier by flipping them upside down. Makes it great for storing. My only con is that it should have come with a storage bag so you can have everything all together and dust free. ... show more

This game was a big hit with the grandkids. They enjoyed the game and were able to follow along with easy instructions. They took time to put it together because they played it at all levels. This bean bag toss set is an interesting spin on the classic bean bag (corn hole) type games, the concept is neat but it's impossible to reach some of the holes if you set it up as the instructions suggest. It is still fun and the hardware is really nice, it seems very durable and feels it will last for years and years without an issue. It's a fun challenge for those used to playing more traditional style games and fun to those who are inexperienced as well, it levels the playing field in many ways. This is a nice game for kids and adults especially while camping. The game collapses in on itself for easy storage and transport, taking up less space. You can play the game a few different ways, either spread out on the ground or as a volcano. The pieces are made well and should last a long time. This game is a blast! ... show more

I mean, who doesn't like Volcanoes? And National Geographic is a very old very recognized brand name. However in this case, I think they're taking advantage of it to sell you a very expensive plastic bean bag toss game. For this price, you could buy a nice corn hole set and have more fun with young and old kids. The box this comes in is large, and the plastic "volcano" is nested nicely inside along with the bean bags, which are wrapped in plastic. You get a little 4 page brochure on volcanoes, presumably written by the team at National Geographic magazine. Nothing more on the educational front, sadly. There is a little self assembly required as the 3 levels of the plastic volcano have to be pulled apart and set up along with a bunch of stickers. The stickers will take the longest to install as there's a bunch of 'em. Once put together, the game itself is a bit challenging, with the bag pockets/targets on the sides. Think of how difficult it is in corn hole just to get one bag through the hole, this is a much more difficult challenge to sink a bean bag into one of the target pockets in the side. Distance plays a very large role in the level of difficulty of course, the closer you get, the easier it is to aim. Unfortunately, for $50, this is not a good buy. Terribly expensive and I would look elsewhere. Not recommended. ... show more

We’ve got a kid that is still a bit too young to attempt traditional cornhole, and we also were looking for something that could be played indoors on a rainy day. The volcano is a short stack three plastic drums that (as the pictures show) have differing chutes circling around the volcano. So far we’ve managed to sit in the middle of our living room with us surrounding it tossing the bean bags with no particular game structuring our fun. The brochure comes with a few different game ideas that would make more sense for structured play with older kids. Final note – the stickers are legit and a bit of a pain to put on. Make sure you have the patience to mess with stickers before putting them on. Peeling them back off it not an easy task. ... show more

    • Such a cute backyard game for the kids
This outdoor game is so cute and large! It is very easy to put together. There were three primary pieces that easily snapped together and the bean bags that you throw into the side of the volcano. The volcano is made of plastic and you throw the bean bags into the Sid elf the game. It was a little difficult for the little ones to get the bags into the side so I definitely recommend this for older children with good aim. The stickers are cute but I wouldn’t recommend using or leaving this game outside because it is not weatherproof. The kids didn’t knock it over when they threw the little bags at it so that was a bonus. I recommend this game for parties or little get together with the littles. ... show more

Simple to put together if you don't consider the decals. Those can just be annoying from a time and detail perspective. That said its holding up well, kids enjoy it from time to time and did play with it a lot when we first got it.
