This rocket was a gift to my grandson. It took a month before we could attempt to launch it and discovered it was defective. I did read the instructions and encourage any buyer to do this first. The power-up sequence needs to be followed.     • A rocket that doesn't rocket
Got for my son for Christmas gift. I thought it was an awesome idea. Kid super excited. Charge it and go out in the afternoon to a large open field. Find flat area. Set up, ready to launch. Choose level 1 to start out. Motor and blades star to spin, then go faster, which promptly knocks the rocket on its side. No flight. Try again at level 2. Same thing. Try again at Level 3, same thing. Try holding it in my hand and throwing it. Does a loop and nearly hits me in head, nose dives into ground. Kid says this think sucks. I agree. Thing is a piece of crap. Little tiny propeller. Body is supposed to open and helicopter down, but the problem with that is the body won't stay shut when you're trying to launch it. Any slight breeze flays open the rocket, causing it to tip and nose dive. We returned this rocket and got this one as a replacement (www.amazon.com/dp/B0BBRGJTD7). it's awesome. It actually flies (I'd say it peaked at 75ft), has a larger sturdy propeller and a deploying parachute. Kid loves that one, hated this one. ... show more

    • In the right space, with careful-enough kids, this is a perfect toy
This rocket, as so many other reviews mention, is really fun to watch. It goes up satisfyingly high even on the lowest setting, and the highest power is impressive. Watching it come down is a marvel. You’ve probably never seen anything like it and your kids almost surely haven’t either. It’s important to reiterate some others’ points: you do need to make sure you truly have a wide open space and minimal wind. Either of these can really ruin the fun. And resetting the wings behind the clips (and not accidentally releasing them when pressing the launch button) can be a delicate operation. If the kids are easily frustrated with fine motor, somewhat fiddly tasks, this will be a trip to a vale of tears. But if the kids can be happy while being careful, and if they won’t mind the “get the hang of it”-ness of resetting the wings, the reward is well worth it. These rockets have such an innovative design, it’s hard for anyone not to be delighted, and the delight does not wear off quickly. We love this thing. ... show more

My son is 3 and he loves this little rocket! So much that we bought a second. I would say they don’t quite hit the height advertised, but they go plenty high for a little one to launch up and enjoy chasing as they slowly come back. Rechargeablity is awesome!
