So far, this has been a great little pottery wheel. It’s sturdy and quiet, more quiet than most of the wheels I see in the YouTube videos I’m watching. I’m an absolute beginner, so it’s better to judge what someone more experienced thinks, I’m sure. The pan has not leaked, it removes easily for cleanup, and snaps back together. I loe that the pedal also has a handle, because I want to learn to throw standing up (save your back!). I was so excited to see that this one has a bat, which is why I chose this model, but the bat has a surface that is very comfortable (painful, even!) for your hands to slide across when centering the clay, so I can’t use it. :( ... show more

This is good if you just doing little projects or you just beginning. I think it a good budget friendly buy. It is way to set up and actually pretty simple to get going. I took a ceramics/pottery class about 20 years ago and have wanted my own wheel ever since. Well, it seems that my skills haven't lasted these 20 years and I'm going to have to relearn how to make stuff, but I did have fun. I really didn't use the tools, as I was trying to get a feel for the clay again. I was also using air-dry clay for the first time, so perhaps that lent to my troubles. This pottery wheel is easy to use. It comes pre-assembled, except for the feet and the optional handle control arm. I attached the feet and unwrapped the tools and took it for a few spins. The instruction page isn't very instructing, but the machine is easy to figure out and run without them. On the yellow switch, "open" is on, and "closed" is off. The black switch has "forward" as counterclockwise rotation and "reverse" as clockwise rotation. The pedal is not spinning (slowest) when tilted towards the rounded end (as pictured) and fastest spinning when tilted towards the square end. The pedal holds its position on its own, so it doesn't need my foot on it unless I'm adjusting the speed. It was super easy to use this pottery wheel. Despite not being able to turn out a single finished product, I had a lot of fun throwing clay on it and shaping it up into some awkward bowl or vase. I do feel like it makes a good beginner wheel and that I can learn/relearn how to make things on it with enough practice. ... show more

I think that this pottery wheel is great for any skill level. It is easy to use and makes creating your own pottery a lot of fun. I really like how easy this is to clean, as that can get a bit messy. This is super easy to use as you can change directions with the switch, and the speed control is easy to operate with you hand or foot, whichever you prefer. I also like that this isn’t too heavy, so it is easy to put off to the side and out of the way, when it’s not in use.
