  • KEEPS GOING AND GOING! LONG BATTERY AND AWESOME FUNCTIONALITY!
Keeps Going and Going! Okay, so not the energizer bunny, but this controller has lasted me about 60+ hours of game play so far without showing any signs of stopping. I have two of these and they work great together. My brother is an over-the-road trucker (and I'm a disabled veteran). When he's home on the weekends, I tend to play a lot of these spectacular games with him. We often lose track of time and play for several hours each day. We have never had any lag, or connectivity issues. Some things to keep in mind are the fact that you need to plug in directly to the wall outlet (surge protector, etc.) using the included power supply. It takes power to allow the signal to do it's job via the dongle (and it can't accomplish this long periods of time using a mere USB port on your television). The ability to access the home screen has saved this system and brought it from zero to hero in no time! Okay, it was always a hero, but the controller was lacking before this beauty came along. It's actually slightly less elongated than the original controller, but also slightly taller. The indentations in the controller allow for an ergonomic fit (compared to the original). Also, it's lightweight and balanced! NO LAG! I had to mention that again, because I have played every single game on here multiple multiple times, and it works amazing every time! The batteries are even balanced in the controller as one goes on each side of the controller! In short, buy two and stop worrying about the negative reviews (most of the time, they are competitors or someone not reading all of the instructions). As for the sync issues, the only time I have to "resync" is during start up and it's literally as simple as holding start button for like 1 second. I have NEVER had the controller need a resync in the middle of a game at all!!! ENJOY! ... show more

  • PRETTY GOOD
I purchased two of these due to them working with the Nintendo NES. I do have a issue with them being disconnected and having to reconnect them. Overall it is a good price and does the job.

  • I got no strings, to hold me down (anyone? anyone?)
I was very fortunate in that I was able to get a NES Mini for my birthday. However, much to my dismay, after unwrapping the package, I discovered what many other NES Mini owners have been on about...short cables (hell of an oversight there, Nintendo). Most notably, the controller cable is incredulously short...I don't remember my original NES having such short controller cables, but back then, cordless phones were all the rage, so there's that. To get around this, I connected the mini using a 10 foot HDMI cable (I don't know why I have this) and an equally long power cable (ANY Micro-USB 2.0 cable will work...don't get suckered in by uselessly fancy titles and overpay for what is the equivalent of a non-Apple phone charger). But nobody likes having cables running from the display, across the floor, onto a table in front of you, just so you can use the packaged controller (which really does feel smaller than I remember). So naturally, I reached for my (wireless!) phone, and pulled up the My Arcade GamePad Classic - Wireless Controller! Ordered on Amazon, arrived on a Sunday (weird!), plugged them in (I ordered 2), and I was rockin' and rollin' without a hitch! The D-Pad is very nice and responsive; the squared A and B buttons were a little odd upon first impression, but they respond smoothly and quickly (important for Punch-Out...more on this later); the back of the controller has this deep(ish) groove in the back that isn't bothersome and makes gripping the controller easy; but notice that I have said nothing about the "Select" and "Start buttons. The center buttons (select and start) are located towards the top of the controller. While this may seem like a small shift, it unfortunately DOES result in a few missed opportunities in games where you may need to pause very quickly (The Legend of Zelda uses the "select" key to pause the game), or you may need to use a super punch (the "start" key in Punch-Out!) but the window of opportunity is but a few seconds, and you're frantically pressing your thumb where the "start" key USED to be (muscle memory can be useless here). This is a somewhat small gripe, but it's a gripe nonetheless (but not quite enough for me to take a full star). However, the wireless functionality is pretty amazing and you can use 2 controllers simultaneously without any hiccups. If you stop using the controller for a short period of time, the controller does disconnect from the receivers, but just remember to hit a button before you un-pause a game and you'll be fine (I don't get ppl who complain about this. Seriously...press a button and give it a second.) Overall, these controllers are pretty awesome, and at this pricepoint, they're hard to argue against (seriously, the $40 controllers are beyond ridiculous as far as price is concerned). I can't speak to battery life because I haven't had them that long and I don't play as long as I'd like, but go to the dollar store (or..uh...go to Amazon! yeah!) and get some triple A batteries and you'll be fine. TL;DR Version PROS: Wireless; Responsive buttons; Wireless; D-Pad is accurate and comfortable; Wireless; Controller is comfortable in-hand; Wireless; Projected battery life is good (but unconfirmed as yet) CONS: Select and Start buttons are awkwardly placed, which leads to taking punishment in Punch-Out (I miss the "Mike Tyson's" part of that title); NOT-A-PRO-OR-CON: Controller can temporarily disconnect with lack of activity, but just press a button (other than the PAUSE) to restore the connection before you resume your game. ... show more
