  • Great Surprise!
Style: B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC
So I have been spending the last few weeks doing research on the perfect motherboard to pair with a new Ryzen 5 2600. I had been focusing on the X470's, primarily because I didin't want to have to wait on AMD to send me a new cpu to flash the bios update onto one of the older mobo's (instant gratification of a purchse and all that). One of the sales people at MicroCenter suggested this board as I was eyeballing the Aorus Gaming 5, and after making the spec comparisons, this board offered more than I needed. I was happy to walk out with a better board than I was looking for at a price that shaved off of my budget! Getting it home and set up was a breeze! I have had no issues with it at all! All I can say is, be SURE to update drivers right away! They are all on the MSI website, and Windows 10 doesn't auto find them so navigate to the window to get them. ... show more

  • 100% Do not purchase this or any 450 series board for new Ryzen CPUs
Style: B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC
I purchased this board, under the assumption that MSI's specs page was correct and the board was going to be compatible with my Ryzen 3600X CPU. Sadly, this has been probably the most annoying and temperamental build that I've put together in the 20 plus years I've had the pleasure of building systems for clients. I'm embarrassed to be perfectly honest, because after reading and watching reviews on the Ryzen platform I hyped this build up to my client and now I'm stuck trying to fix it by getting another board/brand. Started off with a no-boot issue. No display, no post, just a red CPU light on the mobo solid lit. Researched BIOS updates and found that this board has a special USB port a button to make it "future proof" to allow for new Ryzen releases. The documentation and how-to was completely lacking on MSI's site, so I ended up like any good technician, browsing YouTube. Found a couple people who had some success using the Flashback feature to load the latest BIOS (v18) from the MSI site. This worked, sort of. I was able to post once after the BIOS was flashed (with basically NO confirmation via lights or audio tone that it had finished). Managed to get to the BIOS and adjusted a few simple settings. Rebooted, and nothing. Had to reset the CMOS. This time, booted and choose factory defaults. Was able to reboot (not power off) and install Windows 10 from my USB drive. Installed drivers, updates, Windows, etc. Rebooted after drivers, no problem. Powered the system down, unplugged the power, waited about a minute. Powered it back on and $!@$%, red CPU light on solid. No display, no post, nothing. Tried powering off several times, and could not get the system to post again. It's the same story ALL over their forums. AVOID this 450 series from MSI and look elsewhere. I've used their board for ages on the Intel side, and I still love them, but this is BIOS/Ryzen 3600/No Post situation is utterly ridiculous! ... show more

  • Mines came Ryzen 3600 ready.
Style: B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC
I watched a lot of different YouTube videos regarding this board and also the different Reddit forums talking about the complications they had. i still went ahead and bought it base on the solid recommendations. i have to confess: I was nervous, because after pulling the trigger I read that they where some BIOS issues. I received it and for my surprise, it said it was Ryzen 3000 ready on the box. The problem is that it was an after thought sticker, that in my opinion didn't looked official. So, I...well... to be sure... still went ahead and updated the BIOS with the most recent one (as of Aug. 30). I was shocked...it worked. But that was the easy part. Then it came the part of assembly. The manual could really be worked. I humbly suggest to color code the different sections for easy and logical understanding of the presented information. This is not my first time building a PC, but if it wasn't for the fact that MSI has the manual in digital PDF version on their support page, I could have made a mistake. MSI, you added RGB to the Motherboard, add some to the manual. I'm happy with the support on their web page. Make sense, at least for me. The board feels substantial and sturdy. I'm in no way a professional reviewer, but the built quality it quite decent. I feel that they should drop the price on this board a little bit more, since its was a complicated to download the Nahimic Audio Software. If you care for the audio, I'll tell you: its really good! And if you want to take the full potential of it, download the Nahimic Software from the Windows Store. Don't bother downloading it from the MSI support page. Save the time. But, while you're on the MSI support page, do yourself a favor and download their proprietary software for the board. I took a gamble expecting bloatware, I was wrong. It works. The App Manager its a convenient way to keep all of their software organized. The Live Update 6 made it easy to update the drivers after the Windows installation. (I know Windows update the drivers too, but I wanted to play safe). It has a pretty good layout for the fan pins and the RGB its a nice accent. My ideal motherboard would have been this board without the RGB- I don't need the lights, pass that savings to the consumer MSI. The feature of the motherboards on the capacitors area, the audio, the convenience of the 2 NVMe and the integrated WiFi was my main reasons for my purchase. To finish, i can happily said that after the updates, installing Win10 Pro, running the tests to make sure all is running like a Swiss submariner clock and enabling the XMP profile, my Ryzen 3600 (non X) is running at 4.2 Mhz. Granted, I'm also using a Scythe Ninja 5 CPU Cooler. Its stable, its fast and didn't break my bank account. This is my first MSi product and I'm a satisfied customer. ... show more

  • Frustrating.
Style: X470 GAMING PRO CARBON
Buyer beware! I've always bought MSI products and I think they dropped the ball on this one. This motherboard is made for Zen+ is it not? But why would they ship it with a bios that does not work for 2700x? My newly built machine would post 1/40 tries. I had to download the new bios into a usb and prayed it'll post so I can update it in order for it to be usable. I was finally able to make it work before I returned it. So far so good, but why ship it with an old bios that doesn't work for the cpu gen it was made for? Save yourself the trouble and find another brand that will work out of the box. ... show more
