This is fashioned after a true hand held, or mic stand installed microphone so it will work with your existing popular sized mounts even though it has one in the package. I just got into using a web cam although I have tried them in the past. I have an HP i7 Elite laptop which has a built in 720P camera, and a winky-dinky microphone, and this is a laptop that costs north of a thousand dollars. When I get the 1080P webcam the difference was incredible, and when I got a USB mic from MXL that I had for quite some time, and audio went through the roof also. I wanted something that I could use with my iPad Air and this one fits the bill. It is also compatible with Windows PC, Mac, Android smartphones. I really like that it has a headphone jack so you can monitor what is going on, and what kind of signal you are getting. My MXL condenser USB has a volume knob, but not a gain knob so that is a big gee with me. I have been heavily involved in music/studio for quite a long time, and having a separate gain knob enables you to create the depth of tone, as well as the overall volume of it; nice touch. Having a cardioid polar pattern is beneficial for focusing on your voice instead of the air flowing from the heater vent. I am working on developing my You Tube channels, publishing videos, and need good audio capture in my shop doing a hand-held tour, as well as stationary for a desktop use in the studio. This one fits the bill with a good array of adapters, and even includes a desktop stand. You may be put back at the price tag because there are so many inexpensive ones out there, but you truly get what you pay for. Your audio quality is key to getting subscribers. We all know the experience of having sound that is overly bright, and full of hiss. Sound quality is paramount. Just to look at this in person is very impressive. It smacks quality. For handheld use right on the microphone itself are the gain, and volume controls, as well as an on-off button. This is not a cordless setup, but then again you consequently won't be dealing with additional noise. The media could not be loaded. The MOVO HM-K1 is a cardioid microphone. And by design cardioids are one of the most directional mics, usually found being used for the performing arts and one-on-one interviewing or sometimes narrative recordings. Having a front-directional pickup pattern, it hears best what's directly in front of it. And that's exactly what I experienced when I did a quick setup upon its arrival. You'll hear this mic, in my review, along with two other microphones. I felt that would be a good way to share the progressive quality experience of this Movo product. Most important to note is that the HM-K1 HM-K1 was designed for compatibility with iOS and Android smartphones, computers, laptops, tablets, and other recording devices. It features integrated dial controls for microphone gain and the controlling of volume when you're using the mic's built in audio-monitor of the mic's output. Having control over mic gain via the mic itself is a super feature. And being able to monitor the audio lets you know how you sound. Included in the kit are three cables, a mic holder and stand and a small, low level mic stand. I ran my video using a small light stand. Most important, MOVO provides a one year warranty. And as you know, US based customer service. My video will back up the comments of others; this mic has great audio. And I'll add that it's a valuable add to your audio tool inventory when you want to do handheld interview or 'in the field' work. This mic is fantastic whether used with your phone or PC. I was searching for a quality stationary mic for some YT and Pod work. This one fits the bill nicely. Using a standard USB-C, it really is plug and play both on my Windows box and iphone. It comes with a very nice carrying pouch, collapsible desktop stand and cables for USB-C, Lightning and USB-A. For the iphone, I tested it with even the basic voice recorder and the quality is outstanding. It has also worked with every native app I've run. I then tested it on my PC and using the built in voice recording .exe, it was night and day over my webcam and another small lapel mic in terms of quality and depth of playback. Just remember it works as a real time monitor too so you will either have to plug in headphones (or 1/8" compatible speaker/monitoring device). or redirect your audio out to another source. The fit and finish of the mic is outstanding and the included tripod mic stand works great. If you're standing and potentially using, it includes a cable drape for support. Having used and gone through my fair share of mics, this one is at or a slight step up from mics in this price range. Excellent 5/5 ... show more

This is a nice and well built mic. Love that it comes with all the cord types, as well as a carrying pouch. This mic is designed for use as a hand held interview style mic. It does not have a lot of gain -- or if you turn the gain up it gets noisy really fast. So this is not something that you put on an arm and have it 3 feet away from you. It needs to be used 6 inches close to the speaker to sound good. The mic itself is very well built. The gain dial on the handle is a bit loose -- very easy to accidentally turn. So handle with "care". Overall, if you are looking for a good quality hand held mic, this is great. ... show more
