    • Instant coffee has no business being this good

Tastes delicious. Not as good as specialty coffee, but you can make this in seconds instead of brewing a V60 over several minutes. I put a splash of oat milk in it and it tastes better than most drip coffee you can get at an actual coffee shop. It also dissolves very well in room temp water, which is great for making iced coffee. I mix it with water first then add the ice. My wife says its some of the best iced coffee she's ever had, and she can barely believe it's instant. I drink this more than my specialty coffee now, which is something I never thought I'd say about an instant coffee. It is not as good as top tier specialty coffee, but it's also like 5% of the work (no filter, no dishes, no scale, no timer, no grinder, etc. just heat water and add coffee). The ratio of taste to effort required is actually better than top tier coffees because the denominator is so small. ... show more

I've been buying this regularly since I tried it on an internet recommendation, it's not just "good for instant" it's surprisingly good coffee. Where many instant coffees are gross-to-tolerable offerings that are just aiming for better than nothing, this stuff is better than most drip coffee you'll get out, and can be conveniently made anywhere you can obtain hot water with just a cup and spoon. A bottle lasts for at least the rated 50 cups, so the price is quite reasonable. A few coworkers are now hooked on it after tasting mine. It gets a pronounced smoky note when made strong, which may or may not be to your taste - I find I tend to make around or even slightly below the suggested ratio, even though I'm habitually an espresso drinker. The bottle design is not the most convenient for carrying around, but the squared off bottle does sit neatly in a desk drawer which is more important for my typical use case, and seems to seal well because I haven't had much issue with it hydrating in the bottle. Mt. Hagen offers the same stuff in sticks if you want it truly on-the-go. ... show more

Coffee drinkers shun instant coffee for good reasons...taste. It really doesn't matter if its freeze-dried, crystalized, or just extremely finely ground beans: it will always carry the taste of the water itself more pronounced than even the worst drip made from relatively 'fresh' ground beans. The lingering aftertaste is always going to be reminiscent of gas station brew left a bit too long on the hot plate. That said, I'll choose Mount Hagen over the Pricier Starbucks instant every time. It mixes well in water of any temp...and if you let it sit for a bit, the flavor improves. I like STRONG coffee and prefer mine to be from freshly ground quality beans. I will often travel with an Aeropress, whole beans, and a good hand burr grinder. But that's too much when flying with a single-bag carry-on. So I pack a smaller air-tight canister of Mount Hagen because in-room hotel coffee just flat out sucks, and I HATE pod machines. Again, use quality filtered water and add to the strength desired, stir a plenty, and then let it sit a bit if you can...and you will find this Fair Trade, Eco-Friendly, Organic to be an economical cup when you just can't leave the room before you get your first hit of St. Caffeine. ... show more

By far the best instant coffee I've ever had, and better than drip coffee you'll get at most places that aren't coffee shops. Simple to prepare, balanced, easy to drink - even black, though its flavor goes well with all kinds of milks and sweeteners. It's not my day to day - it doesn't hold a candle to freshly ground beans in my Aeropress - but it's a lifesaver when I'm in a real rush, and when I serve it to people who aren't coffee snobs, they're delighted. ... show more

My first time to try instant and was so surprised! This is 2 teaspoons. The aroma is ok (can't expect it to be like fresh brewed) but the taste is great! The reviews were spot on! Be sure to stir vigorously some of the large crystals need a few seconds to completely dissolve.
