Having grown up in the city where no one sleeps because there is a coffee stand on nearly every corner......I can tell you that this is a fantastic road trip or wilderness hack for a good cup of cold or hot coffee. The decaf is also very good and If you like your coffee thick and extra tall, then use 3 packs. I've mostly given up on caffeine to help reduce cortisol/stress triggers, so when I'm feeling the need for an afternoon pick up, just the smell of this instant decaf does it for me cuz of the memory the brain keeps with its connection to coffee getting me going plus the excitement for an afternoon instant treat where I did not have to grind beans and put through the coffee press. My only complaint is that I wish they put more in a packet. ... show more

I rarely drink decaf but I sometimes entertain company that does. I love having these single-serving packets on hand because I don't have to worry about a big jar or bag of decaf going stale. I did try it myself and was impressed by the flavor. It's way better than Folgers decaf. (Sorry, Folgers.) This is the holy grail of instant coffee: "Instant that tastes like regular coffee". The trick is to make sure you don't use too much water. If it gets diluted, then it does start to taste like instant. I'd say it compares more to an Americano or "pourover" that you'd get at a coffee shop than to drip coffee. The difference being that with drip coffee, the texture is smoother where with an Americano, you can taste the grain of the coffee more. I personally really like that, so this has replaced my coffee maker. Other notes: +Because this is organic decaf, it doesn't have the nasty decaf taste that conventional decaf has. That's because conventional decaf uses methalyne chloride to strip the caffiene, where organic uses water or carbon dioxide. +Although I wouldn't describe the flavor as "smooth", it's also not bitter, which tends to happen with coffees of this texture. pure win. ... show more

I originally bought a jar of this same coffee for my mother (she loves it) but it came completely crushed (glass and coffee everywhere) inside a too-thin padded paper envelope. Got a refund and got her this instead, but when it arrived once again it was in a thin padded envelope and the box was crushed enough where the top had completely popped open. This coffee was a bit of a disappointment. While it is easy to prepare, just add hot water, it is a weak preparation. I started with a full cup and migrated down to about 2/3's of a cup of water. No Dark Chocolate in these. It is simply more expensive than the regular Mount Hagen decaf coffee. This has been noted a number of times in reviews. Plenty of time to fix either the title or the product. If this isn't honest, how do we know that it is even organic? Also, you can't return.
