  • Moukey MMS-5 Desk Mic Stand: Great for close quarters
This review is for the Moukey MMS-5 Desk Mic Stand What I like about this mic stand far exceeds what i don't like. What I like: The Moukey MMS-5 Desk Mic Stand is small enough to fit closely and mic an amp. The moving parts function reliably well. Knobs and boom harness are plastic, but they are well formed and finished. The base, vertical post, and boom arm are metal. I also have one of these mic stands at my computer with an Audio-Technica at2020 USB mic for zooming. Most other portable boom mic stands have long boom arms that get in the way of other wiring/equipment considerations. I bought 2 of these moukeys, then I bought 2 more when I realized the advantage for using with guitar amplifiers. I'm planning to buy another. What I don't like: The base could be a little heavier to compensate for the full reach of the boom arm (i.e. if I fully extend the boom or even extend it half-way with the audio technica at2020 usb mic, it will tip over). The only other thing I don't like is the 3 foam pads on the bottom of the base. They are thicker than need be and contribute to potential wobble if mic weight/boom reach is not carefully balanced. The design would be better served with a full ring of padding. Overall: I'm pleased. The parts work reliably, the design is pleasant to look at, and the size is better for my needs. ... show more

  • Nice Small Boom Stand
I Purchased this Desk top mic stand to replace a small stand I was using for to mic up my guitar amp. It's pretty nice for the price; its big enough to be really versatile, but small enough to pack easily and not take up much room. I can easily set a mic up to any of the 4 speakers in the amp's cabinet without having to extend the height of the stand. The knob to adjust the angle of of the boom arm feels a little bulky, but it works well. The small brass thread adapter also works really well to fit many different microphone clips. The metal base easily threads when it's time to pack up, but is really solid. The only down side is the stability of the stand when the boom arm is level with the floor and fully extended. It seemed to start leaning, but I also had the mic card just hanging off the side. However, I never need to have the arm perfectly horizontal so it's fine for me. Once the arm seems to be at any angle, the stand feels really sturdy again. If you are a musician on a budget (like myself), this is a really good option. ... show more

  • Fantastic stand for the price..however.
Was expecting a moderate lil' stand with okay material - it's actually quite solid! The rubber stoppers on the base work very well, and the base itself is super sleek! The crank on the boom arm are fantastic quality, as well as the mic clip it comes with. My only complaint is the stability. No matter how tight the nut/washer is, the top part of the stand always seems to have a bit of a wobble to it, like it's never fully 100% fastened...more like it's 90% of the way there. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this or not - it's not a deal breaker by any means, just something I wish weren't an issue. ... show more

  • Worked for me to use with my Desktop
This product is fine for my purpose which is to have a mic at mouth level when I am at my desktop on a video call or recording audio. It has a heavy sturdy base and seems to be well made of all metal components. It was easy to assemble and it attached perfectly to my Yeti nano mic. I did need to use the adapter that came with the stand. The stand was at the right height without any extension of the upright pole. In fact it could have been a couple inches shorter but I was able to angle it slightly downwards. I am 5' 8" so if you are taller it is easily adjustable. I think it was good value and did what I needed it to do to have the mic at mouth level without being seen in the video. I attach a picture. The monitor is 27". The Yeti Nano could stand on the desktop but was a little short and I had to move it close for better quality audio. This allowed the stand to be on the side of the monitor and extend to my mouth. ... show more

  • Decent Mic Stand Mic Too Heavy
I picked up this mic stand in anticipation of my Røde PodMic and unfortunately I’ll need to return it as the mic is a bit too heavy for this stand. For it to not tip over I had to completely remove the boom arm and screw the mic directly onto the main post. The stand itself seems pretty decent, the base is decently heavy. Build quality is overall good, however as some users mentioned there are some plastic parts on the cheaper side of things. Overall a good mic stand for the price, unfortunately it didn’t work well for me personally. ... show more

  • Great product for your needs
This was exactly what I wanted! it gives complete value for money. I liked the sturdiness of this product. The height is adjustable to my requirements. I’m a classical singer who performs sitting on the floor. So the adjustable height of mic was a must for me. Also, I use it with a USB mic so the adapter pin worked great! The only reason I gave 3 stars for stability is because it tends to tip over if the boom arm is extended all the way out. I have to place a weight or something on the base to stabilize it. Otherwise a great product with great value for money ... show more

  • Look no further, this is the short boom mic stand you’re looking for.
The media could not be loaded. I don’t see why anyone would need a different mic stand this one. The checks all the boxes for me. It’s stable, it’s highly adjustable, it comes with a mic clip, it has three rubber feet on the bottom for stability. I am liking this a lot and can’t wait to record an amplifier with it. It also would work right on the kick drum or another instrument needs to be miked shortly off the ground, or even a desk where you’re making a voice. The checks all the boxes for me.
