Description

The MotorGuide Xi5-80FW 54-Inch 24V Wireless Trolling Motor comes with a wireless control that lets you precisely operate the motor from anywhere on the boat. Plus, this freshwater motor has Pinpoint® GPS and a sonar transducer to help you achieve your greatest fishing success every time out. This Xi5 Wireless Freshwater model has composite shaft material and a 3-blade Machete III Glass-Filled propeller, wireless foot-pedal controller, digital variable speed controls, forward motor direction, battery meter, and handheld wireless remote is available as an accessory. The wireless control is a standard feature of the Xi5 – not the expensive add-on it is for many competitive motors – so you can fish from anywhere on the boat using the convenient wireless foot-pedal controller. The wireless pedal provides outstanding motor control as its intuitive, pro-style "heel-toe" operation controls steering that is extremely quiet, precise, and 50-percent faster than competitive controllers. Digital variable speed control enables exceptional low-speed trolling capability and longer run time. The Xi5 features an easy-to-read LED dashboard that lets you quickly check the status of key functions in any light conditions, including: Power ON/System Ready; Propeller ON; Pinpoint GPS System Active; and three levels of battery life. The built-in 83/200 kHz sonar transducer delivers industry-leading clarity and detail, so you can identify more fish and structure. It has an integrated temperature sensor and epoxy- potted nose cone for maximum protection. Sonar adapter cables ensure compatibility with most leading sonar brands. The Pinpoint® GPS is the industry’s most accurate GPS, and it provides 3 times the precision control and a tighter hold on your anchor point. Teaming it with versatile Lowrance® displays (sold separately) makes it easy to maximize Pinpoint® GPS control and functionality to create new fishing strategies. The Xi5 features an improved, low-profile mount. The base uses corrosion-resistant anodized aluminum and the hardware components are stainless steel throughout, including the durable linkage. The unique stow and deploy mechanism aligns and guides the motor into the stowed position and secures it in place. For added safety, a secondary lock prevents unintentional deployment and potential damage. The new composite shaft is so capable of managing any obstructions – it will bend but won't break – that it is backed by a lifetime warranty. This Xi5-80FW 54-Inch 24V Wireless Trolling Motor delivers 80 pounds of peak thrust and has a 54-inch- long composite shaft with a 3-blade Machete III Glass-Filled propeller. This 24-volt motor has a maximum draw of 56 amps. It is recommended for boat lengths of 17-21 feet. I've used my new trolling motor twice and boy do i love it. I purchased the 80lb/24V Xi5 version. Anchor mode is amazing and remote works awesome. I have not tried the foot pedal and honestly don't think I'll ever use it as the remote is too handy. We are not bass fisherman who constantly cast so the foot pedal might be more useful for that type of fishing. ... show more

Can't trust you'll get a new unit Received a used unit that was dirty, scratched, and had a power cord that had been cut, spliced, and wrapped in black tape. The wire even looked faded from sun - the way red wire turns pink. I didn't remove the trolling motor from the box. Shipped it back. I hope nobody else receives this same trolling motor. ... show more

    • Great product! But if you are looking to integrate it with your lowrance units there are things you need to know.

This is a great troller. It really changes the way you fish. I use it with lowrance carbon units. The only reason this did not get 5 stars was that the foot pedal design is ridiculously poor. I bought this unit for two primary reasons. 1: it has integration with the Lowrance units and 2: it had a foot pedal where the upgrade to my minnkota would have removed the foot pedal. The lowrance integration is generally ok but needs some work. Overall a great product but with a little more work and forethought it could have been a dominant product. Pros: - the anchor feature is awesome. love the fact that i can just hit the anchor button when i get a fish on and not worry about ending up in the rocks by the time i am done. - the route feature is great I use it every day. I have a number of routes planned on my lowrance unit that I fish often. Cons: - The foot pedal is almost useless! By the time you get the motor steering its gone 90 degrees before you can get your foot off it. if it was not for the anchor button on the pedal i would take it off the boat! - The interface between the lowrance control and the remote also needs some work. You can not resume a route started by the Lowrance with the trollers remote. Which means you have to keep going back to the lowrance units to restart every time you anchor or deviate from a planned route. - The other oversight (which again is really a lowrance issue) is when you start, or resume, a route from the lowrance, the speed always defaults to 1mph. it gives you no opportunity to set the default speed to something else (like .5mph) so i am constantly re adjusting the speed every time. ... show more

If you buy this, go ahead and buy a spare control board too. Mine went out after about 5 uses. I called mercury marine customer service and a grown baby answered the phone and wanted to send me to a place to have the trolling motor diagnosed. I called the place to set up my appointment and they said they don't work on Motorguides. They gave me a number to the closest shop that would work on it and they were 2 hours away. I called mercury back and asked for a new trolling motor. Blake was flabbergasted that I dare recommend such a ridiculous request. He was in no way surprised that a 2k dollar trolling motor lasted only 6 months. I guess I should have bought a Minn Kota. ... show more

If you want to get irritated every time you go buy this. Anchor function holds you in about a twenty foot radius, foot pedal is a joke, remote or trolling motor doesn't respond some times or it just takes off, not to mention the gps is always losing satellites.

This is a very good trolling motor with plenty of power and I love the GPS anchoring feature but five years into ownership I’m already on my second handheld remote at over $100 each. Just be aware of this if you’re gonna buy this.
