Description

Monster Hunter Rise is an action RPG that will transport players to the colorful kamura village, an all-new serene mountain locale that attracts visitors with its unique culture and innovative hunting technologies. After hunters equip their armor and select from one of the various weapon types, all-new hunting grounds await, including the ancient shrine ruins and more. As players defeat monsters and progress through the game, items from Fallen foes can be used to craft unique weapons and armor that will increase their chances of future success and survival. Hunters can tackle these challenges solo, or with up to three other players in local or cooperative online play. Evolving the monster Hunter series, monster Hunter Rise will provide players with an inventive set of new tools to track down and defeat threatening monsters. For the first time ever in a monster Hunter game, wire-based grappling actions can be performed by using a “wirebug” while standing or in mid-air, adding an all- new level of aerial maneuverability to hunting strategies and attacks. The game will also debut new hunting partners called palamutes, personalized and rideable “canyne” companions that will provide players with a new set of attack Options, while “felyne” palicoes will return as support characters for actions like healing.

  • Another fun game of the Monster Hunter series
Monster Hunter Rise is Capcom's second Monster Hunter game for the Nintendo Switch. It shares a lot of similarities with its predecessor, Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, in terms of graphics design, and re-used most of the moves from Monster Hunter World. There are 14 weapons to choose from. The game introduced a wirebug move which allows you to climb a cliff and to do aerial attacks. The clutch claw is not available for the hunters to mount the monsters. You will begin with the Village quests to hunt the smaller monsters, and then progress to face the more challenging monsters in the High Rank Hub quests. There is a new type of quest called Rampage, in which you have to deploy weapons, such as ballista, canons, and machine guns, to prevent the monsters from breaking the gates. If you play a Monster Hunter game for the first time, consider joining other hunters in the multiplayer mode, as the level 7 hub quests are quite challenging even for an experienced player. You should also practice with your weapon in the training area to get familiar with the combos. The graphics has not improved much since the Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, so don't expect to have the same visual experience as Monster Hunter World. But the background music is nicely done. The controls for melee weapons such as hammer are very swift with the wirebug attacks. The weapons do not require a lot of materials to craft or upgrade, so you will expect less grinding (fighting the same monsters over and over) compared to Monster Hunter World. The palico (cat) and palamute (dog) are extremely helpful not just in the battle, but also can help you gather materials (honey, bitterbug, mandragora) in different scenarios. You can hire new palicoes and palamutes in the Buddy Plaza. I recommend having at least 7 palicoes and palamutes: 2 for battles, 3 for argosy, and 2 for Meowcenaries. Before starting a battle, you should always eat a meal that boosts your health and stamina by 30-50%. You should also customize your Item Pouch layouts by including items like Potion, Mega Potion, Max Potion, Traps, Tranq Bomb, Antidote, Nulberry, and Cleanser. The nulberry is useful to negating the water and thunder effects on your body, which depletes your stamina quickly. The traps and tranq bombs are a must-have to capture a monster after it felt asleep. The Cleanser is for removing the foam or stench. The antidote is to negate the poison effect. I spent about 44.5 hours to complete the game by doing just the key quests and beating the final boss. I expect to spend another 40 hours to complete all other quests. It is a really fun game with many improvements over Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, especially the movements and controls. I would recommend it to anyone who is new to the series, and maybe they can try Monster Hunter World: Iceborne in the future. ... show more

  • Best Game On The Switch!
Rise has taken the best aspects of the monster hunter series and trimmed the fat off so all you’re left with is an incredibly polished and fun game. It is a lot more fast paced in comparison to its previous iterations, mainly to it’s benefit. The weapon variety is complemented by the various skills you can unlock for each weapon, each allowing you to play the weapon in fun new ways. There is an argument to be said that this is the best Monster Hunter game in the series and many would agree. All updates are free so the game has new content being added on a monthly basis so you get tons of value and it is well worth the $60. You will get the most out of the game however, trying out each of the various weapons and their switch skills, building sets to get the armor skills you desire, and grinding for weapons, armor, and decorations. Although there are lots of monsters in comparison to World, the removal of slow and repetitive tasks like gathering and mining item by item, and the addition of the palamute mount makes the game much faster to run through. That said, the main draw of Monster Hunter has always been it’s replayability , with grinding for the perfect build which is actually enjoyable in this game due to the amazingly designed monsters and the even better designed combat mechanics. This is the best action game on the switch hands down and you are missing out every minute that you do not own this game. GET IT!!!!!! ... show more

  • VG of the year!
So from the moment I started playing this I found it hard to put down. I've since logged more than 250+ hours on this game. This is the first game in the series I've ever played through. Tried demos of the other entries in the Monster Hunter Universe but could never understand the appeal, nor the controls. A friend who played the series explained to me that it isn't just about killing the monsters by mashing random buttons, but by actually studying and learning the monsters patterns and tells. Once you get that in your head you realize your in for something spectacular. The amount of content provided in this game is infinite. Between hunting monsters small and large for their monster parts to upgrade your equipment, to further hunt. Exploring your village and taking on sub quests which aren't always hunting monsters. Upgrading your hunting pals, cat and dog. Not to mention the story mode itself. The inclusion of rampage battles, though at first hard, you eventually end up loving these as they become a lasting staple in the story progression. Top all of this with the constant free updates that Capcom has been putting up, adding monsters, or story elements. The game is a absolute gem. A most buy, as I said VG of the year winner for sure. There is dlc to be purchased but not needed as most of it is cosmetics for your character. I bought dlc outfits for my owl since those seem to be limited in game. The multi-player aspect is also one of the best experiences on the Switch as the servers Capcom uses never experience slow down or lag. Not to mention I've never encountered a player online for this game just rage quit mid battle. Truly a beautiful experience and look forward to the next entry in the series. Capcom has made me a hunter for sure. ... show more
