    • Bad color choice hides numerous flaws

I'm a big fan of the metal dice craze that's been going on these last few years. I have a LOT of metal dice. These are really on the lower end of my collection, quality-wise. I got the silver-white set because they looked different than most of what I already have. I was a bit nervous about the colors blending enough to make the numbers hard to read, especially against the embossed dragon, and I was right. You have to lean in close to tell what you rolled, which I guess is ok if you don't want your GM to see it from across the table? "Yeah, a natural 20 again. Weird!" But seriously, they're hard to read. Even worse, the similarity in sheens really seems to be hiding some quality issues. At first I thought the blurry quality of the numbers was due to the reflection, but closer inspection revealed that the paint is just splashed all over the general vicinity of the numbers without any real care. If you look closely, you can even see that in the pictures in the listing. Aside from that, there's nothing that really recommends these dice over any other set of metal dice, and they're a bit more expensive than a lot of better sets. ... show more

Every once in awhile I come across dice that are so fabulous they immediately inspire me to use them for a character I haven't created yet. I like to call these dice "chandelier dice," because they look fabulous, are super sparkly, and are gold and silver. Unfortunately, they're not all that easy to read. The dice faces are gorgeous silver backgrounds with a dragon it, surrounded by a beaded border. All silver. So far, so good. Slapped on top of this is a gold, raised number. And that's where we get into trouble: the raised gold number on top of a raised silver dragon on top of a rough silver background is something of a mess. It's pretty to look at, but good luck reading it. The font itself isn't bad, and the "6" and "9" have a line identifying them instead of a dot, so that helps a bit. Ironically, the four-sided is the most legible because the numbers are tucked away in the three corners so that they don't compete with the dragon. If the dice were just silver with gold numbering, or just gold dragons on a silver background, this set would be legible. But when the two collide, it's a beautiful mess. ... show more

MJDICEOK DND Metal Dice Dragon Set I'm going to be honest: I ordered these expecting them to be ugly. Maybe it's just me, but those product pictures look awful? But the actual dice look so much better in person! The black and red colors blend into each other in a natural way that looks organic and natural. There is a little dragon motif on each dice face that looks regal and courtly. These faces have then been covered in a clear enamel for protection. The whole effect looks really dignified and professional--it reminds me of a kingly coat of arms, especially with the gold edging. I would 100% use these with a Noble background character, or especially with a dragonborn. But, ooh, a Noble background of an exiled or exploring Noble who wants to return home someday and reclaim their right to the crown... *chef's kiss*.     • Seriously heavy metal dice!

One of the latest generations of dice is the sold metal design. This set is so hefty i have to recommend using a dice rolling tray to avoid damage to table tops. The ease of reading really depends on the contrasting colors you choose when you order so be aware of the combination when shopping. After over forty years of table top role playing games I have handled and rolled thousands of dice. These are some of the nicest out there. They roll randomly. If you are a collector or just want a really nice set of dice, you should really have one of these sets in your dice bag. ... show more

These dice are one of he latest generations of dice that are made of solid metal. This set has an enamel color coating that really makes them stand out. After playing table top role playing games for over forty years I have handled and rolled thousands of dice and these are some of the better ones. I recommend a dice tray with these dice so you don't dent or scratch table tops, they're that hefty. These dice roll randomly and the faces are easy to read. ... show more

I love the pop of the red on black and the gold accents on these dice. They feel good in the hand and are a little oversized. Yet some of the numbers are quite small, making them difficult to read. There are too many dice out there that both look cool and are easy to read, so these are just okay for me. ... show more
