  • Best of the Best !
Style: Accuracy
Well made, precise, accurate - everything a Machinist wants in a dial caliper...

  • No more batteries!
Style: Accuracy
I have several digital calipers from cheap, to moderately expensive. They all work well enough with repeatable results. But I am sick and tired of chasing around for batteries. So here we are... I am quite pleased with the function and level of quality (for the price) of this unit. I have had it for some time now. Reliably measures to a thousandth or better. And I know it is going to work every single time I pick it up! I plan to get another before too long. I do worry slightly about dropping it though. I know it's not made for that, but it will happen eventually. ... show more

  • Best Quality
Style: Accuracy
I've had a 12" model since 1972. This caliper appears as good as the old one although the box is not even close in quality.

  • Worth your hard-earned money.
Style: Accuracy
Absolutely worth every penny of your hard-earned money. This thing is great it is built to last and will certainly pay for itself. This is my first set of good dial calipers and I am very impressed and will never waste my money on cheap tools again. The package arrived on time in good condition not a scratch on the calipers. Zeroed immediately and repeated every time I opened and close the Jaws. Fit and finish are excellent and flawless. Super smooth easy to read just great. Passed inspection and calibration at the shop flawlessly. Will get lots of use out of these. ... show more

  • High quality calipers
Style: Accuracy
Although I am not a machinist the aerospace company I work for uses mitotoyo products exclusively. After purchasing these for rebuilding motorcycle engines I know why these are considered the best. The smoothness and accuracy are top notch.

Not the best of the best but probably the best value for a quality product.

  • Great accuracy for non critical hobby jobs.
Style: Accuracy
I grew tired of the cheap knock offs and bought this set of calipers and could not be happier. Very consistent accuracy and easy to read dial. Will not go back to the cheap stuff!

  • Great caliper, super repeatable. Case has no foam.
Style: Accuracy
As expected of Mitutoyo, a high quality, very precise instrument. Super repeatable; that first image is after running it out to 6", back and forth a couple times, and then back to zero. Seems like it has no backlash at all. What more could you ask for from a caliper? No word yet on durability, I'll update the review if it develops issues after a while. No news is good news. I bought this as a replacement for my cheap digital caliper, which measured fine, except every time I wanted to use it, the battery was dead. Back to analog. One thing to note is that the case does not come with any foam. While the dial does say "shockproof", I take that with a grain of salt. I modified the case with some 3M UHB double sided foamy tape stuff and it brings me peace of mind. One other reviewer mentioned this and padded his own case. It also does not have a barrel hinge, and instead just a thin piece of plastic. I would imagine after opening and closing it ten thousand times, it would cold work the plastic until it broke, like bending a paper clip back and forth until it breaks in half. Maybe they use magic plastic that won't work harden, what do I know. ... show more
