I'm a student pilot and plan to make it all the way to piloting for an airline, however I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg on a headset. For the price, so far these work nicely in the planes I train on. One of the three planes seems to not like these as much, so whatever I or my instructor say will get cut off partially, and there's more "can you repeat that?" than I'd like. On the other two planes we don't have this issue. The volume on the earphones will only go up so much. There have been a couple times that I couldn't hear my instructor over ATC and the engine at the same time. They aren't that noise cancelling as described. Otherwise they are very comfortable to wear, and don't need a ton of adjusting. I think these are a fair choice for a student pilot who's on a budget. ... show more

Im an ATP student, and I was definitely worried about the price tag that accompanied most of the other brands that you're going to be recommended for general aviation. I'd already taken a 100k loan and spent thousands more on moving, equipment and other miscellaneous related costs. I was nervous to "skimp out" on a headset because it's obviously a vital piece of the puzzle. But I decided to believe the other positive reviews and I'm glad I did. These things work, and they work well. They're not very noise-cancelling, but they keep out enough sound that you hear your PIC and anybody you're talking to on the radio with absolutely no issue. The mic also transmits audio clearly enough and In 30+ hours of flying now, I haven't had a single complaint. They're comfortable, they work, and they have held up with no issue. If you need to save yourself some money, and can't drop 300$ on the "entry level" David Clarks, these are a great option and they absolutely will work for you as a student pilot. ... show more

These no longer work after 8 months. I kept them in good shape and in a carry case. Spend a little more and get another brand so you don’t have to buy headsets twice.

My motorglider came with a couple cheap PNR headsets. With a rotax up front, it doesn't require much noise damping. A nice feature of those headsets is that the bulky headrest can be easily removed, which makes the headset shorter, which is important for this tall pilot in a cramped cockpit. Those original branded headsets both died of different causes after six years. These headsets are almost exactly the same design as those that came with my plane, and the ASA-branded PNRs you can get at pilot shops. They sound the same, and the head cushion looks identical and can be removed the same way. Perfect for my needs! ... show more
