  • Great PC!
Size: UM760 Slim-16GB/1TB
Okay, I've only had it for one week but so far I love it. At first I had an audio problem...turned out to be the cable was not fully seated into the audio jack. Not I want to discover how to boot from USB to install Linux. I am really pleased with this very small and silent PC. James Conaway

  • MINISFORUM UM760 Mini PC
Size: UM760 Slim-16GB/1TB
This is a fast little machine. I upgrade the memory from the original 16GB to 32GB from A-Tech. I formatted the drive to get rid of Windows 11 and replaced it with Linux. I couldn't believe how fast a complete Linux took. It was all done and working in less then 10 minutes.. Didn't have to seek out any additional drivers to get the hardware to work. Everything thing was found and worked perfectly. Now it takes less then 30 seconds from the time I turn on the machine till I am at the desktop and able to work. I love just how quiet this is. Now I can sit and not feel like I am in a room with a jet engine running. I would recommend this little gem to anyone that doesn't need or wants Windows. To bad they don't offer it with Linux pre-installed. I know a lot of people who would buy it if Linux was pre installed. Though it is fast and easy to install Linux yourself. ... show more

  • Good quality mini PC with some minor issues
Size: UM870 Slim 0/0
I have both 870 Slim and 890 Pro versions, they are both very fast and quiet with some minor issues. The main differences that makes the Pro version slightly better are (1) It is slightly faster, maybe 3% or so (2) has an NPU, but it is practically useless (3) Pro version has two ethernet ports instead of one (4) It has an oculink port, which uses the PCI port so, you can only install one NVme HD if you use the oculink port. These differences do not matter for most users. Overall I am very happy with both of them. They are both small, efficient, they don't get hot or make any fan noise. They can be directly powered from USB4 port, with some decrease in max clock speed. But there are some annoying issues, mostly minor things: (1) The wifi cards are not supported properly. The slim version had a wifi card which was not recognized by linux. The pro version had a slightly better wifi card, but was still an obscure brand. The issue is not the speed here, making them recognized by the OS. I replaced them both with more common models, it is about $20-30 to replace each. (2) The windows key was invalid in the Pro version. The Slim version was barebones it did not come with any OS. (3) The Slim version has screws at a very inconvenient location. You have to remove bottom pads glued to the box. Without the pads the vent will touch the surface and will not work well. It is not a good design. The Pro version is much better, but it has two cables attached to the lid on opposite sides, and it is not east to detach and attach them. If they were on the same side, the lid could be opened without detaching of them. (4) I tried installing 96GB RAM but it caused some glitch with the GPU driver. I tested the RAM and it was not faulty. 64GB or 32 GB RAM both work fine. (5) I don't like the bios, it is too rudimentary with very few options. Despite these issues, I like them a lot. This generation of AMD mobile chips (8945, 8745, etc) are really great. I also have a Mac mini pro (M2) and their performances are similar. Mac has a better GPU but the AMD is faster for most of other tasks. ... show more

  • 14,000MBPs using RAID 0 NVMe on this is INSANE!
Size: UM760 Slim-16GB/1TB
This is crazy! At this price, this little mini PC supports RAID 0 (and RAID 1) NVMe Gen4 with two M.2 slots that already have thermal tape and heatsink attached to the rear panel! The UM760 Slim comes stock with a mid-range Gen4 NVMe M.2 (the second M.2 is empty). It runs at a little over 4500MBPs (see photo). After opening it (must remove the rubber feet first to expose the screws at the bottom. Be careful removing the bottom panel as a cable attaches a cooling fan and can be easily broken off during removal! Once opened we installed two Fanxiang 2TB NVMe Gen4 NVME SSDs, Enabled RAID in the BIOS, rebooted back into the BIOS to the RAID options and created our RAID 0 array. Then we installed Win11 24H2 from scratch (it defaults to installing PRO since the product key for Windows is embedded in the BIOS)! You must download the drivers from Minisforum, however, the RAID drivers for Windows installation are missing, but you can download them direct from AMDs website for this chipset. Once the install of Win11 Pro was done, we got over 14,000MBPs on sequential reads and over 12,000MBPs on sequential writes! This is insane and overkill for a Ryzen 5, but I can't believe how well this worked on such a budget-friendly mid-range mini PC. This mini PC is super quiet and has a 2.5GBe LAN port. You will need to provide the LAN drivers, either downloading from MinisForum driver page, or use a USB to ethernet adapter (sold here on Amazon) to get you online if you don't have a spare PC to download the drivers and you did not download the drivers to a USB flash drive before your re-install. Overall, this may not be the best mini PC money can buy, but it's definitely the best mini PC you can buy for the money in late 2024! Highly recommended!!! Great value! Dual channel RAM, WiFi 6E and Bluetooth v5.3... What else could you want without spending a lot more? ... show more

  • This is an incredibly powerful mini machine
Size: UM760 Slim-16GB/1TB
I upgraded from an AMD 5625U, and although both have the same 6C/12T configuration, the GPU on this new one is significantly stronger and can be configured up to 16GB (MAX). It operates very quietly and has excellent cooling. I upgraded its memory to Micron DDR5 5600 48GB + 2TB SSD, but honestly, the factory-included DDR5 4800 performs just as well, so there's no need to go for the DDR5 5600." ... show more
