Item came wrapped in a weave-style bag for aiding dryness in storage. The thin 6' x 8' bamboo of about 1/2 to 3/4 inch diameter came folded in from the center and the bamboo is tied together so that the wires are barely visible, which was nice, since some other bamboo constructions may show too much wire. Easy to install after the fence is opened up completely as first sent, then rolled up from one side. Then after first edge is fastened to the structure, one may fasten the fence as you unroll it towards your destiny. The fence held easily and has good vertical stiffness to it, but needs enough horizontal support in order not to wobble in wind, etc. I used metal poles about 46" inches apart in order to be sure to hold both edges and the center. These purchases actually came an inch or two short in either dimension. My 8 ft x 6 ft purchase weighed about 100 pound each. Hopefully, the bamboo is dried enough to last years. Bought 3 to have some privacy in my deck that faces a back alley. It was easy to install by myself using zip ties to attach to the fence. Its is heavy and sturdy. I read other reviewers complaining they have different sizes and honestly you don’t really notice that once installed. However, the city’s code enforcement gave me a ticket and I had to take it down. Beware this may require a permit depending on where you live ... show more

I love this fence. It covers the ugly association green fence and protects my yard from coyotes, snakes, and rabbits from breaching my yard. It also offers privacy while being able to withstand the high winds we get here in Southern California. One warning for you: WEAR A LONG SLEEVE SHIRT DURING INSTALLATION. There’s some kind of toxic chemical on this bamboo (probably to preserve it or to keep bugs from eating it) and I ended up getting a SEVERE case of contact dermatitis after I helped to install this fence. Here we are almost 4 weeks later and I’m still fighting the scratching, bumps, and uneven skin from the fence. (Please note that I’m not someone who has very many allergic reactions.). I’ve had to visit the doctor to get a prescription (they gave me generic Claritin) and I’m now using a medicine cream to try to get rid of the itching and the angry red bumps that now look like large mosquito bites. It’s all from the toxic chemicals on this fence. So, when installing, wear a thick sweatshirt and some pants so your legs done touch it either. Also wear gloves. Hope that helps. ... show more

This bamboo product arrived well-packaged (see photos). It does take a strong person to unpack, unroll, and stand-up the fence. Two people would be easier. The first complaint I have, which was also mentioned by a fellow reviewer, is that neither end of each of the bamboo pieces is covered (see photos). Living in Southern California with the threat of the invasive "Ankle-biter" Aedes mosquitos that comes around every summer, despite the lack of rain, is disconcerning. I am hoping that when the seldom rainstorm does come, the rainwater will leak out of the bamboo or dry up fast enough and not stay pooled up at the top of each pole to allow these pests to breed. Second issue: after setting up the product against my existing fence almost two weeks ago, I would hear popping (or cracking) sounds whenever I have the windows open. This was more frequent in the two to three days after installation, and then continues every few hours. Upon inspection, I discovered that the body of the bamboo poles were splitting apart vertically. I have not yet done a thorough look, and will update my review once I do. This is bad. Unknown if this is caused by the dry 95 F heat here in Los Angeles. I also don't know if or how this will affect the fence's performance over time. Sturdy and thick bamboo stems. I zip-tied it along the deck railing for privacy. It doesn't bend or sway in windy conditions.
