I have made a lot of book books. This one was easy and fun. The directions were easy to follow and clear. I loved the fact that doing the wiring for the lights was really easy. Other book books never have enough wire and the directions are not clear. This one, I had plenary of wire and it was easy. I was able to put the on/off switch where it belonged. If you are thinking about buying this, you should. You will have fun and end up with a beautiful piece to put on your bookshelf. ... show more

I gave this 4 stars because it’s a very nice piece when done, but it was difficult. I’ve made quite a few other book nooks and this was definitely the most difficult. The tabs all seemed to be a tiny bit too big, so unless I filed them, they either smashed or broke off when assembling. There are A LOT of delicate pieces and I had to file the tabs or they would break. Also, the instructions are hard to follow. It is done, but I feel like it’s SO fragile that I don’t even want to touch it. ... show more

I have bought a few brands of these “book nooks” and I won’t buy this brand again. The first problem was the touch line for the lights was so badly put together it fell apart the second I touched it. The seller won’t let you contact them for support so I had to go through AMAZON who said they would email me instructions on getting a replacement part and they never did. I ended up using a touch line from another kit from another brand I had bought. The second problem was the instructions are absolutely terrible. They skip steps and you just have to figure out where some things go on your own. The wood parts that are supposed to snap together are all cut incorrectly either too big or to small so you have to do a lot of glueing where you shouldn’t have to and a lot of sanding where you shouldn’t have too. Additionally the pictures in the instructions that are supposed to show you how each step should look when done are so dark you cannot see them. And the translation to English is very poor and hard to understand what they are trying to say. Overall I was super unhappy that I bought this brand. I would not recommend it. Their are other brands that are worth your money but this mini city brand is not worth it. ... show more

I have never ordered any of these types of items before. Read lots of reviews before buying and extremely pleased with the quality and sturdiness of this item. Actually bought 2 and can't wait to start the next one. I would never buy another brand. Easy step by step photo directions.
