  • Great game from my childhood - love it!
This was a game I played as a kid and I just remembered it. Glad I picked it up! Don't be confused by people who call it a "travel game." It's based on road-trip travel. It's NOT for playing in a car. It's based on travelling in a car on a 1000 mile trip. Mille Borne means "1000 Milestones" in French. The idea is to play milage cards until you reach 1000. Your opponents can temporarily slow you down by hitting you with a "Speed Limit" card or stop you altogether with Hazard Cards like "Flat Tire" and "Out of Gas." You play Remedy Cards like "Spare Tire" and "Gas" to get back on the road, or you can protect against hazards with the Safety Cards like "Puncture Proof" or "Fuel Tanker." The game is similar if not exactly the same as the American "Touring" card game. Buy it! You'll love it! ... show more

  • Classic game, fun but scoresheets missing
Played this years ago and found it to be great family fun. Back then the cards were actually labeled in French although the pictures made it easy to know what they meant. The game deserves five stars for fun and value -- but in this version a big issue is the lack of score sheets or full instructions inside. Incredible oversight. You should check online and find this from any previous edition, print it and save it. When playing the various cards, you need to lay them out on the table in a way that the missing instructions describe and show. That way you and the other players keep track of your status and progress, which are crucial to know for any kind of strategic planning. That small element of strategy keeps it from just being a game of luck, since it's based on drawing cards from a pile and choosing what to do with them. It's one of those games that can appeal to fairly young players while still being fun for adults. The scoring process is important so look online for those score sheets that the manufacturer mysteriously neglects to include. Allez-y! ... show more

  • One disappointment...
We bought this game because we played it with some friends who have played it for years. It is a really fun game. The reason for the 3 star on this review is because there is NO SCORE SHEETS with this set. It's kind of a complex game that has specific items that you get points for and there is absolutely nothing to help (or teach) you how the scoring works. My friends older set at least came with a few score sheets so you can know what you are doing. We ended up making our own score sheets after looking at our friends sheet and also researching online; we shouldn't have had to do that. Games normally come with score sheets! ... show more

  • I've always loved playing this game
I've always loved playing this game, and have spent hours playing it with family and friends. So I ordered this newer version to introduce it to my grandkids. Our first game was played with 4 people -- and THERE WERE NOT ENOUGH MILEAGE CARDS FOR ANYONE TO WIN! I have never seen this happen before. I actually had to buy a 2nd game (found at a store) and add some mileage cards to the first one to produce a game that would work. We also decided to add some repair cards, since we had spent half the game waiting for the right repair card to turn up. The other disappointing thing was that the cards are all in English. As a kid, I thought it was really cool to learn the French terms for "speed limit" and so on. It sparked my interest in learning a foreign language, and I went on to study French in high school and college. In short, this is a great game, but the re-issue has some deficiencies. ... show more

  • NICE EDITION of mostly forgotten game.
This Eurocentric hit French game is a car race card game; often lumped into WATERWORKS catergory. You race opponents, thru speed zones, flat tires and Traffic lights. Your opponents throw obstacles in your path, like an OUT OF GAS card, and if you don't have petrol, (or a Tanker Truck,) you're stuck! Fun for mature kids, probably 11 and up, some of the print kn this edition is a little TOO FINE TO READ, without glasses, and sometimes, even then. The majority of Play cards [miles travelled, Gas/Essence, Flaf Fires, etc.] All seem ro have bold enought graphics to play Glasses Off, for those players remebering the fun once again. Milles Bourne means THOUSAND (Miles or kilos,) TRAVELLED. While 1st to 1000, ENDS THE GAME; to win it the total Score of points for distance covered, for Specialty Cards, and more, determine the ACTUAL winner. (Creating a few tense TALLY MOMENTS at end!) ... show more

  • Fun family game
I bought this game as I had fond memories of playing it with my family growing up in the 80s and 90s. This is great because it has the same graphics as my original Parker Bros version. Only difference is that the words are in English instead of French. Makes it more playable for beginners though. I prefer the French for nostalgia purposes but English still works. I taught the wife how to play and she promptly kicked my butt like 5 games in a row. Guess I got a little rusty having not played for 20 years. ... show more

  • Wrong game received; no return or refund available!
I received my package today expecting the Mille Bornes card game. I used to play it with my children who are now grown. I am taking French classes now and it was offered as a suggestion so I purchased it. Instead I received a game called “minuscule”. I looked for the return information only to find there is no return or refund available with this product. Very disappointed. I had to rate-so 1 star; I couldn’t submit with No Stars! ... show more

  • Great game!
Great version of this game! Very nice printing and package overall. I'm mainly writing this to let others know it looks like the reference cards are now printed correctly (June, 2015). The one we just purchased is good.
