Beautiful ginger jar. I love the colors and the look of the jar. Mine has paint smudged in one area but it’s not a big deal. I just turned the jar. The bottom has three pads on it but I added more as they are pretty small and I want to protect my fireplace hearth. Also not a big deal at all. When I was putting the lid back on the jar, I dropped the lid. It hit the fireplace and landed on the floor. It did not break or crack at all. I was pretty impressed but don’t recommend trying this yourself. It did make an indent into my solid wood fireplace surround, which I was ironically trying to protect with the felt pads. That’s all on me and I’m highly impressed by how sturdy this jar is. It’s summer where I live so I’m displaying it by the fireplace. I will move it when it’s colder as I wouldn’t recommend leaving it by a hot fireplace. Beautiful, solid jar and I definitely recommend it! ... show more

As expected with Mikasa, the quality is excellent. Heavy with vibrant blue details, the vase is expensive looking and modern. I do think it looks best with something in it to avoid giving off the urn vibe. It is quite large and makes a statement on a mantle or console table.

I love the way this vessel looks, and I am a sucker for a navy motif in my navy kitchen. The opening on top doesn’t accommodate an average hand though, so utility in storing frequently accessed items is limited: Doesn’t diminish my love for this piece, though. Super aesthetically pleasing.

Nicely made. I’m disappointed it doesn’t have the silicon ring for cover so I’m concerned as to how fresh things would stay. I think I’ll use as a vase because of the top cover.

The ginger jar is larger in real life than I expected. It has a considerable heft. Instead of a decorative piece, it reminds me of an urn for ashes. Its large size leads to a top-heavy disposition, making it prone to toppling. The print, vibrant in its blue landscape pattern, seems hastily applied, and doesn't quite convey a sense of craftsmanship. I like everything about this jar vase. It is a substantial, large, quality piece that looks good on the floor or on the dining-room credenza. The cobalt blue and subtle off-white are beautifully done, and this color combo behaves like a neutral — it goes with most everything, therefore it is well suited for gifting, including weddings, and it won’t break the bank. The associated photos depict one of the ways I plan to use it. In this instance, it will hold little silk bags (found here on amazon) that have a door-prize winner or loser message inside, and each guest for that luncheon will secure their bag when they arrive.
