  • Very good quality for the price.
Wasn't crazy about many of the patches. Had a lot of them (patches) I had no use for. My biggest problem was that it didn't display what patch was being used. Getting to what I needed meant scrolling until I found what I needed. Not acceptable during a live performance.

  • If you only get a piano sound...
I was only able to get a piano sound, even though the encoder knob did show different numbers! As a final test before sending it back, I held the Program button down for 3 or 4 seconds.. now I had all the sounds! I do this on power up every time.

  • Great Classic sounds
I am getting back into playing more keyboards, and I wanted to find something simple to start with with a variety of sounds so that I can start to figure out what my needs are in terms of equipment and things to practice and work on. It has all of the 128 standard General Midi sounds, although the manual only shows you the patch names for the first 64. It also has a bunch of other emulated keyboard sounds in a second bank. One or two of the sounds are a little bit too loud and overdrive the output a bit, but most of the other sounds are solid. Everything is velocity sensitive and even some of the patches have aftertouch, although it only seems to be the same as whatever the MOD wheel is set to do for the patches I've listened to so far. If you have a controller with pads that are already set to channel 10 (the standard MIDI drum channel) it will play a bunch of the drum sounds along with whatever keyboard patch you're using. ... show more

  • The best value in keys. DONE
They literally could change the whole music game with this. Different versions, different sound packs. But the FORM FACTOR is unbeatable. Truly hope they continue to make this. Ps the e-MU sounds take this to the next llevel v

  • disappointing sounds
On the positive side: it works; I plugged it into my midi-keyboard, and in the aux-input of my stereo, and it did what it was supposed to do. The output level is a bit low, with my volca it is higher, but the amplifier can take care of that. The metal box looks stable and high-quality. But the sounds that are supposed to correspond to real instruments are disappointing, they all sound artificial. The piano does not sound like a real piano (none of them), or the harpsichord like a harpsichord, and with the pipe organ, which I wanted to try for some christmas music, developed a weird effect. A note that is held for a couple of seconds changes at some point slightly, and then is clearly off-key. So don't hold a note long. So this is clearly not the instrument for playing classical music on imitation-classical instruments. Perhaps my expectations were unrealistic, but I don't see why; it must be possible with current technology to produce sounds that are closer to the real instruments. ... show more

  • Poor performance
Product is inconsistent between the two sound banks in it. Upon turning on its set at maximum volume. So be careful not to blow speakers. So unhappy I brought a new digital piano

  • Good for Starters with older Midi Controller
First for me, I have a Roland 77 key 25 year old controller piano with Alesis Nano piano that cuts out. I bought this to cover during filming. You get what you pay for. I do not like the fact it only has 64 GM sounds and then their program sounds. I use a strip to turn everything on but you MUST cut this on manually. Good for people starting out but not live. ... show more

  • A good place to start
I am not a synth player. I needed a place to start from, and this Miditech unit is working out great until I figure out where I am going. It's relatively inexpensive, easy to use, and sounds pretty good. I really couldn't ask for more.
