  • Amazing piece of tech
Color: Obsidian Size: 256GB Style: Duo Only
Since Onward Mobility cancelled the Blackberry 5G, I had to decide on a new phone. Given that it is pretty much my main piece of work equipment, I came down to 2 options, the Duo 2 or the Z Fold 5G. In the end the Duo won out and am glad it did. The phone has the spirit of a Blackberry (especially as it makes GREAT use of Blackberry Hub, which is in the Google Playstore). And in portrait mode the keyboard is AMAZINGLY roomy which makes switching from a physical keyboard a LOT easier!!! It functions like a top of the line Android Tablet. And is distinctive and beautiful. If you loved the Blackberry Passport, this is essentially the same size (and despite some odd comments about it not fitting in pockets, it fits my back pocket, suit jacket inside pockets and others without ANY issue. The split screen may not seem like it is a great thing, but it is. Especially if you multi task work. And while yes, for watching movies and such the split screen is not a great idea. But consider that EXCEPT for the Z Fold, one screen on the Duo 2 is like a regular phone screen. So your not really loosing anything. Yes, there are a few tweeks it could benefit from (like adding incoming emails to notification bar). And yeah, it is pricey. But as a business tool for doing work on the move, it is absolutely great! My final determination on why I picked it over the Z Fold....Duo has a slightly better Battery life, and the clamshell design means that unless your actually using it, the screens are safe. There is a slight learning curve with it....if you play with it for 30 minutes or so and get used to the swipe actions, it becomes sort of natural My single biggest complaint....if you want a screen shot from just ONE display, you have to make sure to fold it back. It is a small and slightly annoying issue, but honestly compared to everything else about this phone, hardly a deal breaker!!!! ... show more

  • Good value for money after price reduction and several software updates.
Color: Obsidian Size: 128GB Style: Duo Only
It is currently a useful Android device with dual screen and seamless UI for productivity. The first time I use an Android without giving up after more than 2 weeks. The gesture mode and Microsoft Usability features like Authenticator, OneDrive make it a solid middle ground to iOS in bridging my Cloud Data. It feels like a foldable iPad to me. Microsoft finally make this device a niche productivity device. Arguably it is better than just a foldable device because of the dual screen. Battery life is decent. It is fast. ... show more

  • Great unique device but...
Color: Glacier Size: 256GB Style: Duo Only
This is a very niche product, 2 independant screens with immaculate build quality. Aspect ratio makes it great for consuming media content of all types. MS cleaned up the software quite a lot and it is very good now but the only downside is an extreme lack of flexibility or customization of hardly anything. The hinge is by far the best design I've ever used and the cameras are very decent for average to moderate picture taking. The only negative, which by the way plagues every foldable on the market currently, is the battery life. It is very bad and you will find yourself charging it at least twice a day while having to be attentive to it constantly. If the manufacturers can figure this out, the foldables will take off. If you don't mind the undersized battery you will love this device! ... show more

  • Well engineered. Top quality. Beautiful unit
Color: Glacier Size: 256GB Style: Duo Only
The joint in the middle is not a problem and well designed. Clever! Trying to push a button/link near the center is a bit tricky to a person with fat-fingers. The stylus-II works well for this. The apps that work with the split do a good job of taking advantage of the two windows. I use it almost like a mini-laptop! Nicely done. I hope I didn't buy the last one in the states... ... show more

  • Buggy, No Customer Service, Microsoft Stole an Additional $856 Trying to Repair
Color: Obsidian Size: 128GB Style: Duo Only
The good- beautiful phone, screen, quick processor, everyone asks about it. The bad- this phone cannot sit on any surface... none. I can't count the number of times this thing has been on a flat table or counter... a foot away from any edge, and it goes flying on to the floor by itself. You have to put a wrap on it, period. Best practice would be to store it in a basement inside of a tall box... even then, it will likely find a way into the sewer system, and eventually the center of the earth. Bluetooth sucks on most devices, but this one is particularly bad. Screen likes to randomly go black, has no sense of orientation, screen is often miscalibrated... pressing one icon opens another... this carries over to the keyboard... you spend a lot of time retyping. The awful- device eventually ended up damaged... went online and ordered the "advanced replacement / repair" option... basically they ship you a refurb for $699 + tax, you put the old in a box with their return label and send it back... if you don't send it back they charge you the balance of a full new phone, which happens to be $856. No problem. Refurbed phone arrives- cannot stay connected to my carrier- hours back and forth with the carrier, they blame Microsoft, Microsoft blames them. Eventually Microsoft relents and sends me another refurbed phone... I send back the first refurb, and my original using separate shipping labels they provide... UPS tracking confirms delivery of both. At this point they charge me an additional $856 as though I haven't sent my original phone back. You call the 877 number it directs you to their website... you go to the website, it directs you to the phone number. No on answers and combination of menu options. I start calling every random number for Microsoft I can find... I think I probably hit up the SQL Server Enterprise team at one point- eventually get my case escaleted.... around 4 times... have to start over and explain to each person multiple times... English is not really an option. Eventually they agree to credit me back... but they don't... again phone and e-mails go under answered. Nearly 3 months of calls and e-mails go by... eventually hit a person who seemed to genuinely care- was informed I would be refunded in 5-7 days, and that they would personally follow up with me. Next day I get an e-mail saying my case had been closed because I hung up on them, and they follow up with a satisfaction survey. Anyway- no happy ending after a long-fought battle... they just took my money and ran. Going to contest the charge with Amex... we'll see. I'm about $2300 and 20+ hours into customer service phone calls over this phone. Second worst mistake of my life next to getting married. At least she just an unreasonable psychopath hell bent on destroying my life and leaving me penniless in the street... this phone might actually be trying to hurt me. tl;dr: Buy an iPhone, a ham radio, a carrier pidgeon... literally anything else. ... show more
