  • Excellent Tire
Upon first mounting my new Michelin Commander II on my Wide Glide, I was disappointed and skeptical of my decision. The compound on the tire compared to the HD Dunlop was/is significantly harder and far less sticky. When shifting into 2d and 3d, I found myself losing traction, actually sliding my rear end a foot out with the wheel spinning like crazy. My driving habits were nowhere as extreme as normal, as I am aware of the "burn off" period when buying a new tire. Needless to say, after putting about 100 miles on the new tire, and ridding it of whatever protective coating installed by the manufacturer, I am now very pleased with the grip and stick of the tire. Equally, it must have a different or transitional compound, so as you lean the bike off the center ride path and onto the outside of the tire (when cornering), it holds firm and has no slip. In a tight corner, and I mean when scraping pegs, this tire sticks firm and has fantastic traction and control. Also, it seems this tire is a bit "rounder" that the Dunlop. Transitioning from upright to a tight lean is effortless and feels great. Bottom line: Great tire. I have 2000 miles on it now and there is no noticeable tread wear at all. (my last Dunlop only lasted 3700 miles and was a slick). I understand that when transitioning to a high mileage tire something has to give, and in this case, it's grip, but honestly I notice an improvement. We'll see how long it actually lasts. ... show more

  • Best price anywhere
Size: 180/65-16
Purchased the 180 and the 130 for a 2010 Harley Ultra Classic tour bike in 2020. Read lots of great reviews and bought them. Was blessed to find someone who could mount and balance for under $50 a tire. I know that's rare. They did a good job. So far, tires have held up well in last 2.5 years. No shuddering or shakes. Good grip. Pretty pleased with their performance and value for the money spent. ... show more

  • An excellent tire if you have a cruser or touring bike - GOOD rubber is part of your safety gear
Size: 180/65-16
I bought my bike (2009 Kawasaki Vulcan) with this tire on it, in 2013. A tire of this grade is suggested for the next model above my bike (Touring - and I have a cruser) - rated to handle a couple hundred more pounds of load than the original manufacturer spec for this bike. I missed a safety check and the wife and I were running a little late - so I didn't look my back tire over before leaving home (foolish). It's hard to see, so you literally have to get down on your knees. This tire had finally dry-rotted over a period (10 years old remember - and 10K miles since I bought the bike - and still had lots of tread left). That said it did NOT give up on this ride - though it did throw a part of the tire while we were riding - and NEVER blew out. I can't say how close it got, but I've already put a reminder in my calendar to change it in 5 years or before if we ride it to mileage specs. That 'little bit extra' that goes into the heavy duty tire - could have saved us from an accident - and maybe saved our lives. Don't 'skimp' on something so important. Get the best and the strongest you can afford...and stay on top of wear and tear before and after every ride. THANKS MICHELIN for an incredible product! ... show more

  • Perfect
Size: 180/65-16
This is the best tire I’ve had. In my opinion. They last one I had I put about 18,000 miles on it. Mostly riding two up. When I tell you these tires grab the road when I’m pounding hard. In the curves they handle real good. These are the only tires I put in my bike. Always remember you get what you pay for. Safety first. So please get a good darn tire. ... show more
