  • The right stuff?
It may have been easier with a helper and they do recommend two people. You can do it yourself, just don't rush it.Make sure it's warm enough so it sticks well. Actually it sticks extremely well! I waited to write this until it had been on a while. It's had plenty, of wind rain and snow in a couple of months of Colorado winter/ spring and it remains perfect and unaffected. ... show more

  • Great, but install is key!
I installed this on my bus on top of plywood. My suggestion is do not use asphalt primer like they recommend. It is messy and can cause bubbles which can lead to wear and tear. Also it cause indentions when you step on it which can allow water to puddle. So, do not use that stuff. What you should use, especially for the diy-er is the glue they sell for it. It will lay flatter and adhere better. Also, do not have anything sharp in your pockets!! It’s not easily cut, but if you slide on it with a knife in your pocket it might gash into it. Lastly, if you’re worried about the edges I would recommend putting the 6” version of this on the edges with the glue. It holds well without that, but with my bus driving on the interstate, I wanted to secure the edges better. Other than that this stuff is awesome and easy to use. I’ll be using this in the future on other projects and would recommend it to friends and family. ... show more

  • Great product
I've used it for years, the more practice and skill you have the better. Per sq expensive but you can install it directly to plywood or old metal, still recommend hiring a pro roofer to get the most use out of it. Don't recommend it for a flat surface though.

  • A "Raincoat" For Your Roof Deck
First, MFM Peel and Seal seems like a miracle product to me, who would go with shingles (especially living in a high wind Hurricane Zone like Florida?) when roll roofing is cheaper and easier, relatively speaking? My problem was that the house I occupy had a severe leak with the inevitable heavy rains that come in Florida, which was specific to the kitchen and attached porch area, both low slope roofs which transition into a steep slope metal roof. My first attempt, I tried to merge the Peel and Seal to an existing asphalt tarpaper/felt/roll roofing area I used the Peel and Seal tape as flashing , so to speak.. Where Peel and Seal covered the porch, absolutely no leak (where water had previously poured in) but alarmingly, the leak had moved back into the kitchen. I realized at that point I needed to get rid of the entire old, nasty tarpaper felt and all the rotten roof deck. I was a bit reactionary over the fact that I was still getting leaks, so I backed up the Peel and Seal with pressure-treated plywood and GAF weather shield. I was less alarmed, but still concerned to see a substantial reduction in streaming leaks and now just a drip. Long story short, old decking and part of a rafter in the corner of the roof where it transitions to the metal roof was the cause. I had to tear down the kitchen ceiling to find it. That would have to be replaced anyway due to mold issues, so I am waiting on reclaimed shiplap to replace that. So the final layer of Peel and Seal is now applied, water tested with a garden hose and rain and the water is racing off the roof, no leaks. So, I guess my point is that Peel and Seal will do the job, but it's best not to expect it to stop problems in rotten decking or other issues as I described. Start with a good foundation and examine your decking. I did this job alone, but it's best to have two people, you can work with the roll by yourself, but it goes very slowly. Having someone just to keep the paper out of the way is a huge advantage. I even called MFM and they were very helpful. I rate this product very highly. ... show more

  • Good product
Great product. Very nice quality and easy to install. Make sure you have a helping hand to manage the roll and get it set the way you'd like. Once it's stuck down... it's stuck. Easily applied and nice quality.
