The usual shopper for a memorial urn is looking for something beautiful; a work of art in which to hold a loved one. This is most certainly that. S/he may also want the assurance that their loved one's remains are secure. The tight threads and seal on this urn measures up here as well. Simply put, this is a solid, well-made and respectfully designed vessel for the final home of a loved one otherwise departed from us. I, however, am not the usual shopper. I have a loved one, too, but she is very much alive. She's a Goth, a pagan and practicing witch. She embraces the macabre, and has quite a collection of books, candles, sculptures and objects d'morte. Now there is one more addition to bring a smile to her face. (And it did!) One last detail: a drawstring lined velvet bag is also included! So whether you're using it as a prop or as a true memorial for a loved one, it would be hard to imagine a better choice. ... show more

Gave 4 stars because of the lid. I really had my doubts about putting ashes in it. When I went to screw the lid on it did not seem like it would be secure. After playing with it several times I feel a bit better about putting my late husband in there. It is a beautiful design and will use a battery operated tea light instead of a flame. I got the small one for my husbands family all wanted a piece of him. It came in a velvet bag, I guess for people who take there loved ones with them ? ... show more

My dad just passed away & I'm so happy to have found this urn. It's large, gorgeous & just what I wanted. I am very happy with the quality. It's very well made & there is attention to detail. Has screw on lid & place for a candle on top. However I would use a battery operated candle instead of a real one for safety issues. Will be getting a matching one for my mother. It was time to move ashes from the original carrier to a beautiful Urn that can sit on my bookshelf. This is the small urn and has a candle holder on top for a tealight. Great value compared to the Urns the Cremation Society tries to sell you.
