I first tried it with a set of those triangular sponges, which worked just fine but they were a bit messy and awkward. When I saw this MelodySusie grabber pen I HAD to have it. MelodySusie is becoming one of my favorite brands and this grabber is no exception. I ordered it for a different purpose than using with nail art. I am a paper crafter and many times I shade my paper crafts with rubber stamping ink. I use the metal grabbing pen and dabbed the sponge into the ink and then dabbed the inked sponge onto my card stock to shade my images. I really like this little set because the grabbing pen helps me achieve precision while inking my projects. What amazes me is how reasonably priced this set is. It comes with 100 sponges and the grabbing pen. This makes the set very economical. I can highly recommend this little set for paper crafting and I am sure it would also work very well with blending nail polish as well. ... show more

    • Personally I Wish the Sponges Were Slightly Bigger

I think this is a good holder and sponge set for doing ombre. I'm used to using larger makeup sponges for my ombre nails, so these were smaller then I normally use, but it wasn't bad. I wish they were slightly larger or even maybe a triangle shape, to help the holder get a better grip, and give some overhang for the nail polish. I also wish the tool would lock so you could grip the sponge, twist it somehow, and lock that into place. I don't want to accidentally bump the end and have the sponge with polish fall off on something. For the price it's a great value and if you're someone who likes to do ombre nails, then you might really enjoy using this! ... show more

MelodySusie is becoming one of the nail lines I'm most impressed with on Amazon. I have gotten gel nail strips and a beautiful set of nail art brushes as well, and everything is solid quality. This is a great set of nail art tools (or any kind of ink or paint art!). The grabber is about the thickness of a pen so your hand won't get too fatigued if you are holding it for a long time. The grabber prongs are wide so you can hold the sponge at whatever angle you want...a point, a line, or a wide dabber. I like the colored sponge cubes so you can keep track of which sponge has which product/color on it. ... show more

This is such a cute collection of sponges. They are so little! Lol. I happen to come across these and definitely was interested because I love ombre nails. This is gong to take some practice on my part. I'm looking forward to getting good at it so that my nails look professional. These shoes can also be used for other artistic creations as well. I'm taking a liking to mixed media so this will be useful in those projects also. The Sponges are soft but firm. This is a must have amongst your nail tools. These sponges and grabbing tools work well for creating ombre nail designs. I also use this grabber tool for cleaning my nail stamping plates.
