  • Best spray nozzle we've ever owned
Style: Rear Trigger Size: Multi-Pattern
We've tried and gone through dozens of nozzles over the years, and all of them were discarded after a year or two for one reason or another. I'm not someone who comfortably comes into a forum like a pitchman for a product. But if you work outdoors in your yard or garden a lot like I do, and have also experienced the frustration of buying a cheap, subpar hose nozzle, then read on and take my advice. I'm very happy with the performance of our Melnor XT 7-pattern nozzle and I'll be happy to share five reasons why I think you'd be happy with one, too. First, they're designed expertly and built durably with metal (not plastic) body components and a rubberized grip. It's leak free at the hose end and feels solid in your hand. Right off, you'll know that it has all the features you expect of a well-constructed high quality product. Second, the spray pattern places the power of a jet spray one click away from the shower pattern. I can't say enough about that - you won't be clicking all around the spray dial to find the two most-used spray patterns because they're right next to each other - right where they should be, but aren't on so many other nozzles. Third, these come with an optional quick-connect attachment that you're gonna absolutely love. I had no idea how much easier this makes the task of watering in a yard or garden when you pull the hose around and find that it reduces kinking tendancy significantly. The quick connect acts like a u-joint to keep your nozzle straight and your hose from twisting everytime you move around to a different spot. Even if you don't buy a Melnor nozzle, try the quick connect feature and see the difference. Fourth, there's the price. I paid $9.99 on Amazon and had mine delivered the next day. And finally, there's the company itself: Melnor, the company that first patented the oscillating lawn sprinkler in 1946, offers a limited lifetime guarantee on most of its products. If your nozzle fails for any reason, contact Melnor on line or toll-free and they'll replace it at no cost to you. They did for me. Just saying that all the lesser expensive nozzles I've tried have mostly been been crappy in comparison and none have matched the quality we enjoy of our Melnor XT. ... show more

  • Way better than other options
Style: Heavyweight Rear Trigger Size: Multi-Pattern
This thing is easy to use and seems very durable. The water flow is great and after using it for a few months I’ve not had it clog of get rusty. Great value.

  • lasts about a year, great until then
Style: Front Trigger Size: Multi-Pattern
These have a good fit and feel and several usable patterns. We use ours mostly on the shower setting to water plants without a hard stream that digs up the soil. The catch is durability. They keep releasing new models and discontinuing old ones but we've owned similar Melnor nozzles for years and they only last about 12-18 months. Then the spray loses its nice pattern for no discernable reason. I've taken them apart and don't see any dirt lodged in them or obviously broken parts, but they don't work the way they're supposed to. On the other hand they only cost about $12 or so, figure you've bought use of a nozzle for about a year and then you'll need to buy another. ... show more

  • Impressed with the output compared to Orbit 26812 Pro Series
Style: Heavyweight Rear Trigger Size: Multi-Pattern
Got this Melnor 65020-AMZ today and tried it out. I had just bought the Orbit 26812 Pro Series a few days ago and at the time, I thought it was leaking and set up a return. What I found out with both of these products is, once you start on one setting and then change to another setting without stopping the waterflow, both act like they leak but the really aren't. I think the water in the nozzle is there and when you change the setting, they both appear to leak...but that it not true! I made that mistake with the Orbit, and started a return but later realized the issue was by design probably. Wait about 10 seconds. Again, I waited for this Melnor, it acted the same so noticed that I was the problem and not the Orbit. That said, both have the same characteristics with changing the settings and leaking for 10 seconds or fewer. Both are fine and do not leak after due time of changing the spray settings. Now, the real comparison of power. I love both. I saw videos showing the Orbit as the most powerful. I thought it was compared to the cheap ones i had in the past. I love the slide mechanism on the orbit. With that said, I put both on Jet setting, and this Melnor shot out about 3 feet more than the Orbit which surprised me because of the youtube videos I saw. With that said, the shower setting, the Orbit won by a margin, not huge, but noticeable. Both are solid units, and I will keep both of them. They are heavy and seem well built. For the price, I will take my chances on the longevity and durability. They both seem solid to me. Do you like a static with the slide(orbit) or do you like to hold the handle with the Melnor? Either way, you can't go wrong. ... show more

  • Great quality
Style: Heavyweight Rear Trigger Size: Multi-Pattern
I am happily surprised at how solid and smooth this nozzle is. I didn't realize just how crappy my old plastic one was. This one has a progressive valve, so you can have a light spray or strong spray, just by controlling the handle. Be careful, I had to return one that was full-on or full-off, no flow control. ... show more

  • Solid construction
Style: Heavyweight Rear Trigger Size: Multi-Pattern
Yes, some parts of it are made out of plastic, but other competing products are made 100% out of plastic and the metal is sturdier and more durable, plus it just feels better in the hands.

  • Quality
Style: Rear Trigger Size: Multi-Pattern
Spent a few more $$ than I have in the past for this but a much better difference in quality. It’s durable and works very well.

  • Good for a season, then it starts to leak
Style: Fireman's Size: Multi-Pattern
Bought this to allow my MIL to water plants on the deck. She's 94 years old with arthritic fingers and had a hard time using a regular nozzle. She loves the feel and ease of operation. I wish I could day as much about the durability. The nozzle will start to leak after a season, and the plastic lever has completely cracked on one side. The leak is inside the mechanism, with water seeping out the side through the screw hole that goes through the ball, so there's no fixing it. I'm guessing that the plastic handle became brittle from sunlight and broke when she dropped it on the wooden deck, and it cracked so close to the base that it can't be repaired either. Kudos for a good design, I just wish the engineering was as well thought out. ... show more
