  • Worth the money for sure
Size: MK-A7IV Pro
Great grip, it doesnt feel cheap, only the battery tray does. And the remote works great, I wish it had a power switch though.

  • One major flaw that renders this battery grip dangerous
Size: ZN-A7RIV
This grip was so close to being a great product, the materials are fine, the function is fine, except for one problem that is now a dealbreaker for me. On the OEM Sony battery grip, and on all the battery grips I've used from other manufacturers, there is lockout switch on the battery grip shutter button, a fine idea. Meike however, they decided to make it a power switch, one that cuts the battery grip off from the camera, so no lockout. The lack of a lockout isn't my problem, it's the power switch. Because it's actually disconnecting the battery from the camera, flipping the switch causes what you might call a "hard shutdown", and this is where the problem lies. If you were to flip the camera's power switch to off while it's writing out the buffer, it'll continue to keep the camera powered until the buffer has been cleared. But, when the Meike power switch is flipped the camera loses all power, and those photos in your buffer are lost. Obviously, I do not intentionally flip the power switch to off, but it has been nudged just enough on multiple occasions what handling the camera in the field that it has caused my A7RIV to power off, losing all of the pictures in my buffer. It is for this reason that I can not recommend this product, and that I feel it should be pulled from the market, as this is a serious flaw that needs to be addressed. ... show more

  • Well worth the HUGE savings!
Size: ZN-A7RIV
Not as good a fit as the Sony but literally less than 1/4 the price! So far, it works perfect with the Sony Z and RAVPower Savior series (RP-BC018) batts. If you're super OCD, the slight difference in color and fit may bother you. Other than that it performs like a champ! No complaints so far.

  • Not Sony quality
Size: ZN-A7RIV
AF buttons are small and sometime difficult to push, the toggle joy stick sometimes won’t recognize input. Compared to the pice of the Sony it is worth the investment even if it only lasts a few years.

  • Hey, it works!
Size: MK-A7IV Pro
For the money, this cannot be matched. the price of the Sony grip is...obscene. The grip seems well made and even matches the texture feel of my Sony A7RIV. The only difference is the switch that powers off the unit. It's not a lockout function like the Sony...but so what. When you start...you turn it on. When you are done shooting...you turn it off. I can't think of any reason to spend more on the Sony version. I love this thing! ... show more

  • Not as good as the Sony version, but OK for the price
Size: MK-A7IV Pro
I have both this and the Sony version, which I bought afterwards. Most reviews focus on the cost savings compared to what Sony list their version at, and they are correct. However, value is subjective. So why does this cost 1/3 the Sony grip? The Sony is made of higher grade materials which is evident in every aspect of the grip compared to this cheaper aftermarket version. The Sony supports USB-C charging, which for me is huge. Why would I want to remove batteries and put them in a dual charger when I can just plug in a readily available USB-C cable? On another note, the aftermarket accessories such as l-brackets support the Sony grip, and this grip is not compatible. Why Meike chose another location for the mounting screw is beyond me. So, why buy this Meike version instead of the far better made Sony? Only price. For some, the above points are a decision maker. For others, they do not warrant the additional expense. Final note. I have owned two Meike grips in the past for my smaller Sony cameras. Both suffered failures. One, the little lock twisty tab completely broke off, the other would no longer power up the camera. Both failed after a year of use. Again, the Sony is just made better. Your call. ... show more

  • Works perfectly with A7rIV
Size: MK-A7IV Pro
I see no reason to buy OEM in this case. The grip works perfectly with the A7rIV and costs hundreds less. The remote works fine as well. I do not removing the battery door of my camera to install it, but that is the case with the OEM grip so that is not a negative for this product.

  • On/off switch is annoying
Size: ZN-A7RIV
Where most third party grips have a lock feature to lock the buttons on the grip this one has another on/off switch that over rides the camera body. It is very annoying and is easily bumped which will turn off the camera. You will also often hit buttons on the grip inadvertently because of the lack of a lock feature. Very poor design. Battery compartment Feels less sturdy than other third party grips. ... show more
