My cat took to it immediately, she needed no direction to know it was for her. she loves the face scratcher thing. it’s holding up well, and it is stable enough that it doesn’t move an inch when i trip over the base in the dark. the little bat spring toy is well loved. the pole is solid enough that my very chunky cat has yet to bend it or knock it over. she had developed a habit of waking me up for breakfast by digging at the corner of my bed, and now she just makes a racket digging at the scratcher.

This scratching post is a hit with my cats. They like to stretch out on it and use it relatively frequently for their nails. I even saw one of my cats briefly climb up on it! It’s a little wobbly so I do recommend putting the base either in a corner or by a wall. It is a but tall but that will help your cats stretch. Putting together was easy but the upper half was a tiny but hard to spin until totally secure due to the twine being prickly. If you have sensitive hands maybe wear gloves for putting together!

I would recommend this cat scratch tree to others due to it visually looking cute, and the ability to attract your cat to it rather than the couch. The catnip it came with helped create that attractive smell to it. My cat has yet to tip it over, so it’s pretty stable. None of the green carpeting or base itself has come undone. If I was to suggest improvements, I would say to make the string longer for the top ball. The size is fine, especially for a small apartment.

My cat is very, very, very obsessed with clawing up door frames, and I came to the conclusion that she was wanting to scratch something in my hallway (she has cat trees with tall scratchers by windows, but none in the hall) where she could get a nice full body stretch, and the two scratching posts nearby were both too short for that. I’m happy to announce that this scratching post (I got the tallest size) does reach the height of the destruction on the doorframe, and while she hasn’t entirely stopped scratching the doorframes, she does sometimes choose to go for this scratching post instead. Here’s to hoping that will keep increasing over time! Generally speaking, the fabric parts are soft, the ropey material is fine, and it was really quick and easy to put together - took less than five minutes. My cat doesn’t care about the ball on the spring, but I’m sure some cats would like it. I did have to cut off the elastic string and ball on the top, though, because my kitty likes to chew through elastic, and I didn’t want her breaking it off and eating the elastic while I was gone. Something to be aware of if you have a cat as silly about elastic as me! I haven’t tried attaching the little brush/scratchy pad because I just wanted to get it quickly put together for my kitty, but it’s nice that it’s an option and I might add it on later. I fully plan on getting another one of these whenever this one needs replacing or if I move to a bigger place with more doorframes to try to protect!

Instructions are just pictures and I spent several minutes thinking I was missing part B because it appears to be a skinny plate like circle but in actuality it was a think carpet covered piece of wood with a toy dangling off. Otherwise simple to put together, takes less than 5 minutes and seems sturdy!

I have 2 other scratching posts that I'm sure I picked up in a local store somewhere, and they're twice as big around as this one and have substantial sisal around them. The sisal around this one appears to be the diameter of spaghetti, and probably about as durable. When I turned the base upside down to insert the washer and screw, the hole -- which is half on one side of the base and half on the other -- was misaligned very badly. Fortunately, the particleboard is flimsy enough that I was able to get it put together anyway. I'm not sure what the small bag of catnip is for; I can't find a place for it. If anyone knows, please say. I'm sure my 15-year old girl will know what to do with it, if she takes to it. I've put it in the same location as the one I discarded that came apart after 15 years (and I hot-glued it a few times around the post). This one is cute and looks nice for now. I hope she likes it. If she's happy, I'm happy.
