  • Accurate length

Update: I returned mine. Not because there was anything wrong with it, but because I came to learn these boards require a frame that goes all the way to the end of the mattress. My frame has the 2 side rails that stop short to where the box spring hangs over the end by about a foot or so. Therefore, I can only use a box spring with my mattress. I still don't have much to say that's negative except that, because the boards are fully encased in the fabric, you cannot see the quality of the boards. Any knots in the board are weak spots. Original Post: I forgot to take a picture of the boards laying out completely before putting mattress on... I have a good quality metal bed frame that has a lifetime warranty and was purchased at a well-known furniture store. The frame is heavy duty with a center beam and 7 support legs. You should NEVER use planks as your foundation for a bed with no center support (see photo). If you do, the boards, being made of a soft wood of pine or spruce, will bow... and in no time will literally snap in half or bend and slide right off the tracks. While I was pleased that these planks (which are spruce, and possibly a tad softer than pine) were the perfect width for my frame at 60", I will say that it was one board too long for my bed frame. Meaning, if I spaced the boards out the way you're supposed to so the fabric is tight between the boards, one board would hang off the end. This is not a problem, it just means I had to space my boards closer, and the fabric served no purpose. Not a big deal at all. I'd much rather have 1 board too many than one board less. I suppose I could have even cut the one board out and just had it for backup in case one breaks. One thing I'm not sure I'm going to like is both a pro and a con: The boards being 3/4 inch thick take up the frames "lip." This means, once the boards were in, the mattress is practically sitting on top the boards and not "in" the frame. It shouldn't be a big deal; as, before I put these boards on, my mattress was on a name brand box spring, and my mattress never slid around on it no matter how much I got in and out of bed (and I'm a tosser/turner due to fibromyalgia). So for me it's just a matter of hoping the fabric the boards are wrapped in serves the same kind of "frictional" functions that my mattress isn't always hanging off the edge. There is nothing more annoying in a bed than constantly having to fix the way the mattress libes up. However - o don't think it will be a problem, because while making the bed I was pushing and pulling the frame back and forth and the mattress did not move. 🤷♀️ The plus side, of course is having thicker boards. However, 3/4 inch is pretty standard. I purchased the heavy duty slats, because I have 18 inches of mattress/topper and I myself am over 250lbs. Plus I have a memory foam mattress & topper. Heavy duty is an important choice if you have a memory foam. The difference between the regular and heavy duty is that the boards are closer together by an inch on the heavy duty. Heavy duty - just under 3" Standard - just under 4" The standard is fine if you have a spring mattress (so long as you have a center support). You should never have gaps larger than 3" for a memory foam, as it really does alter the firmness/support. I cannot comment on durability (I just put them on today)... I don't visually see any sagging/unevenness. There is no noise when I get in or out of bed (again can't count on durability, but I think the fabric helps with that a little, too). I can't comment on comfort compared to my high quality box spring, because I just made a DRASTIC change to my bed. I just got new mattress & topper and they are thicker than my old mattress... therefore, on the boxspring, my bed was literally a captain's bed. Gave a whole new meaning to "climb into bed." 🤣 I needed to lower the bed and get rid of the box spring... so my bed feels like I'm sleeping practically on the ground now and already it feels awkward. I will try to update this review as I get used to it and see if it has caused my mattress to lose any support. For now, we can assume everything is fine. The box can be pretty heavy, but I was able to get it in the door and down a hallway to my room. You CAN do this yourself, as I did... but don't think it won't require a little muscle and sweat. Especially if you're doing as much as I did which involved removing mattresses and boxspring, lay these out, then put mattresses back on - with no help. But, only overweight, middle aged, with fibromyalgia a d other health issues... if I can do it I'm sure you can. If you can have help, it will literally take 1/4 of the time. ... show more

  • Saved the day!
Size: King Style: Heavy Duty
These bunkie boards are the real deal. I purchased the king size, heavy duty boards boards, and placed them overtop a Simmons Black Label wire foundation for a Talalay Latex mattress. The boards saved us from having to purchase a matching latex foam foundation to the tune of $550 plus delivery. In comparing the wood the dimensions labeled online for heavy duty are accurate and the bunkie boards are spaced less than 2.5” apart. We are satisfied with the purchase. ... show more

  • Easy to unroll and set up. No more creaky bed!
Size: Queen Style: Heavy Duty
Used this on my metal bed frame with a vertical center support bar. Seems to be holding my memory foam mattress and me (I'm around 200 lbs.) just fine, no creaking or signs of strain. The boards did seem a liiittle more flexible than I'd like when I put some weight on them individually before putting my mattress on top of them, but after putting the bed back together I've had no problems. The fabric covering means there's no noise from wood rubbing on metal when I move, and the whole thing seems like it would be really easy to just roll back up and go when I need to. ... show more

  • Not Strong Enough
Size: King Style: Heavy Duty
Heavy weight suggests strength to me. I am 75 years old, overweight, and generally not that strong. But, I was able to unpack, unroll, and then fit this into my existing king size frame. I think it will make a world of difference. Oops! I spoke too soon. After only one night we found two real problems. All of a sudden what was nicely comfortable with regular box springs was way too soft and saggy. And, it was too close to the floor. Fortunately, since this was an Amazon purchase, it was easy to repack, and return. ... show more

  • Great mattress support
Size: Full Style: Regular
This was a perfect reinforcement for my daughter’s metal bed frame. Perfect support to prevent the rods from bending.

  • Very poor quality
Size: Queen Style: Heavy Duty
Had this 3 weeks. I noticed my mattress sagging so I took off the mattress & found a board broken where a large knot is in a board. Also, there is no centerline support board. I thought the thickness of the boards would prevent this but it did not. Had to swap platform with the one in my spare bedroom that has a center board. Since I no longer have the box this came in I cannot return it. It would also be very heavy. Guess I’m stuck. Thank you Amazon. ... show more

  • Quality control?

I opened the box to air it out...it has a strong smell on it. And was disappointed to see that it had a tear on it!

  • Was shipped wet
Size: Queen Style: Heavy Duty
Got this to put under a foam mattress on a metal platform frame with slats that were a little too narrow and far apart, works like a charm. When I recieved it, it was wrapped in plastic inside a box. The box and the outside of the plastic were dry, but the inside of the bag and the product itself was very wet. I had to lay it out flat and flip it over 24hr to dry it out before I could use it. ... show more
