  • Great mid-range binoculars
Size: 12X50 Color: Gray/Orange
I just received these yesterday and took them out this morning to do a little birding. Originally, I wanted to buy a nicer pair of 10x binoculars than I currently have, but wanted the light gathering capabilities of a 10x50. When I saw that these Maven 12x50s weighed the same as their 10x50, I was intrigued. For me, I like having an 8x42 for forest and low light birding but prefer something with greater magnification for wide open areas like prairies and wetlands. Anyway, after one birdwalk, I can already tell I'm going to be very pleased with these. The clarity is high, the focus wheel is smooth and quick (this is the one drawback with my existing Vortex 10x42s), and the additional weight wasn't enough to cause me any issues. I got a nice look at a peewee up in the trees on a cloudy day and could clearly see his wingbars from a good distance. Not sure how that compares side by side with my Vortex but it seemed like I had a better view. These binoculars feel good in hand, are nice to look at (love the orange trim on the gray body), and I look forward to using them during fall migration in wetlands in particular. They come well packed but instead of a carrying case, you get a cloth bag. I'm not sure I like this for travel as a traditional case offers more protection, so I'll need to figure something out for taking them on a trip. But for area birding, the case is no issue. Anyway, this feels like a quality glass at half the price of the big names. It makes for a nice intermediate pair of binoculars and an upgrade from my $500 Vortex 10x42s. One thing I want to add is that you don't see Maven advertise in birding mags or show up to birding festivals. Their marketing is directed toward hunters it seems. So I was reliant on Amazon's return policy to be able to order and really try them out. I'm pleased! ... show more

  • Very good clarity, definitely comparable with the alpha brands and saves money
Size: 10X50 Color: Gray/Orange
I chose these over the Vortex UHD's and glad I did. They are amazing. Top Japanese glass, assembles here in the USA with a LIFETIME no questions asked replacement or repair warranty.

As good as glass that cost 2 to 3 times as much!

  • Love em!
Size: 10X50 Color: Black/Gray
Decided to upgrade from a pair of Vortex Diamondbacks, and there is a very very noticeable difference. The clarity of these bad boys is insane and I’m very glad I I got them. Highly recommend!
