  • Best sunglasses ever
Color: Gloss Black/Neutral Grey Polarized Lens Width: 70 Millimeters
These are the best sunglasses. At my age glare is really an issue. I have walked past golf balls in the fairway on a bright dewy morning. these glasses cut down markedly on glare. My eyes always feel great while wearing these glasses.

  • If not factory rejects / fake/ or damaged - they're GREAT!
Color: Gloss Black/Neutral Grey Polarized Lens Width: 70 Millimeters
The glasses themselves are GREAT (fitwise) --- even the KNOCKOFF / DEFECT / FACTORY REJECT version that I got in the mail. Now I am not saying that everything you get online is this way - it just so happened to be my luck. First off - I love Amazon deals, but in this case, some deals are just too good to be true. Saw these MJ Banyans for $159 from Direct_Express and Fulfilled by Amazon - so automatically I thought - Amazon is shipping these so they have to be real - not so much. Opened up the box and first thing I've noticed were scuffs on the brown sunglass case.. at first I thought - perhaps thats Maui Jim or Mountains (watermarked onto the case)- aahh no. just plain ol' marks that only mean that the hard case was damaged. After waiting a WEEK for these even w. Prime shipping - Bummed! - tried on glasses, looked great, everything right where it should've been but Extra Bright cloth pouch + print that wasnt as detailed as on the ones i have, which naturally started to set off alarms in my head - (I have few of these from previous glasses and material + print quality just didnt match). BUT stuff like this does happen - it's not a crucial part so could in fact change over time. Still, tried these on - and there was something about them just didnt sit right. I compared them to my Neutral Gray MJ-352-02's and sure enough these ones were a cooler lens. (grr) Then tried them on in bright daylight - as i was turning my head left - right lens / coating was making the glare worse - brighter, then some things, buildings - looked like as if I were wearing 3D glasses. It's as if though the polarization was rotated. To confirm my suspicion I called Maui Jim and based on their sample - which seemed a bit old - (mine said Patent No. 7717557 - which is indeed correct patent for Maui Jim, but theirs said (patent pending) - go figure ) everything else seemed correct. Still, I visited one of my local glass shops and compared - right away I could tell that Lenses were better, and for some reason so was the fit. - I've ordered another pair from Amazon and I hope that I will finally get the REAL ONES. If not then paying 220+tax just to get REAL ONES might be worth it - even for a hybrid gas is expensive dammit. P.S. IF YOU HAVE A LARGE EGG (FACE) and a BIG BRIDGE like I do - also try these - MJ-324-23 they actually fit me better but they are MORE expensive. (Definitely on my wish list) ... show more

  • Overall, best sun glasses I’ve ever had
Color: Tortoise/Hcl Bronze Polarized Lens Width: 70 Millimeters
This is probably my tenth pair of MJ Banyans in ten years. They look great, are light but strong, and block out the sun in my peripheral without having to put up with a solid frame. But I do abuse sunglasses. I use them for all sorts of outside activities. They take sweat and a lot of heavy abuse in stride…though I probably have stepped on/crushed at least three pairs. Once in a while I’d have a weakened arm or some other concern and MJ has always made good on them (even if I’m the one who likely induced the failure). ... show more

  • Perfect Shades for the Large Melon
Color: Gloss Black/Neutral Grey Polarized Lens Width: 70 Millimeters
I have a huge head. Hyyyyyyuge. 8+ hat size. These fit my watermelon better than any other glasses I've ever had. Lenses are extremely high quality, crystal clear. Maui Jim's repair policy is second to none -- send them away to their factory with a $10 check, they zip 'em back to you fixed, with a new carrying case and microfiber festive baggy. I want to carry my baggy on my belt to show my support for Maui Jim but my girlfriend said those kinds of accessories are frowned upon. This is my second pair of Banyans. Lost my first pair somewhere in my adventures in the last couple of months; searched high and far for a month because I loved them so dearly. It was like losing an old friend to a new woman. Love you, miss you Bonya; hope you show back up in my life at some point. I had the tortoise shell with the HCL bronze lenses. Cuts through fog and heavy rain like butter on a warm knife. Or a warm knife in butter. Literally saved my ace many a time with fog x-ray ability. I went with the black frames w/ neutral grey lenses this time because they were cheap. I had another pair of MJ that I stole from my brother that were black/neutral grey, so I knew what kind of eye-gasm I would be getting in. The neutral grey lenses are perfect for sunny days, but still work extremely well with fog/heavy rain. I want to get them surgically attached to my face so I can't lose them ever again. I want to be buried in these sunglasses. I want Maui Jim himself to baptize my first born. ... show more

  • Great Casual Shade Wear
Color: Gloss Black/Neutral Grey Polarized Lens Width: 70 Millimeters
I have 2 Maui Jim eye shades (Banyan and Hot Sands).. These are my go-to shades to wear on a daily basis. Unfortunately my Banyan shade broke and so I had to do a re-order of my fave shade.

  • Very pricy but superb sunglasses (Maui Jim banyan 412 with grey lenses)
Color: Gloss Black/Neutral Grey Polarized Lens Width: 70 Millimeters
These are great sunglasses. The special polarized lenses in fact make a difference to me. I have eye damage where glare is a huge issue. I can go out on a bright day and have no issue whatsoever. They are reportedly made to combat the harshest ocean glare in the Caribbean. As far as I can tell they work as advertised. I have had a pair of these for a few years. The only down side is that now you get a cheaper leather and what kind of feels like heavy cardboard or plastic case. You used to get a soft cloth bag and a very impressi zippered hard blesses case. While the case was disappointing the glasses are still superb. Bottom line is if you have a legitimate medical need and/or can swallow paying the high price without choking, you will not be disappointed. ... show more

  • The gold standard for eyewear in the sun
Color: Gloss Black/Neutral Grey Polarized Lens Width: 70 Millimeters
My third pair in about 20 years. I use them for biking, running, everything in the sun. Block all UV and are polarized. The silicon pads do not slip on bridge of nose or behind ears. They have an excellent coating that lasts for year. My only comment is that for this year Maui changed the case from a zippered one to some sort of a triangular folding case that is inferior. Change it back please!! ... show more
